FRANKLIN, Tn. – Sun Devil Women’s Golf moved up to third place after the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship Saturday in Franklin, Tn., shooting 285 (+1), moving to even par (568) for the tournament, being tied with the hosts, Vanderbilt entering Sunday.
On a tough scoring day that saw a scoring average of 74.75, (par 71/6,390). The Sun Devils had the third best round of the day and were one of three teams with multiple players shooting 70 or better (Dillon and Rhodes).
Four Sun Devils reside in the top-20 after two rounds, leading the way is sophomore Amelia Wan who shot E (71) in her second round, to remain 2-under, (140) for the tournament. Wan, is tied for fifth entering Sunday and is looking for her second career top-10 finish.
Sophomore Kate Dillon jumped up 25 spots on the leaderboard, shooting 70 (-1) to move to +1 (143) for the championship. Dillon birdied four holes in a six hole span, including the par 5, 502 yard sixth hole for the second consecutive day. The sophomore moved into a tie for 14th entering Sunday.
Carrying the momentum from birding the 18th hole yesterday, Fifth Year Patience Rhodes went bogey-free for 20 holes from yesterday’s 10th hole to today’s 11th hole, going 4-under in that span. Saturday, Rhodes went out in 34 (-1) and shot even (36) on the back nine to secure a round of 70 (-1) to push her up 12 spots on the leaderboard, to make her -1 (141) for the weekend, currently tied for 8th.
Arizona State will begin the final round tomorrow starting with Fai Rubrong at 7:40 A.M MST, followed by Natalia Aparicio at 7:50 a.m., Kate Dillon at 8:00 a.m., Patience Rhodes at 8:10 a.m., then Amelia Wan at 8:20 a.m. who is playing in the final group on hole 1. Isabella Cioe will tee off at 7:13 a.m. on hole 10.
