TEMPE – Wanting to put on an impressive performance in front of both alumni and their families on Friday night, Sun Devil Soccer rolled up a program single-match record as Arizona State scored eight times en route to an 8-0 victory over Grambling State to close out the non-conference portion of its 2026 regular season schedule.
Sixteen different Sun Devils were credited with at least one shot attempt, while six scored at least one goal with Peyton Marcisz and Emmie Ennis, two of the eight senior Arizona State student-athletes honored prior to kickoff, recording their first career braces. Seven ASU student-athletes were credited with at least one assist with Mya Angus, Amy Medley and Addison Baltodano all finishing the night with a pair of assists each.
It took nearly the first 18 minutes of Friday’s match before Arizona State found the back of the net for the first time, but Ennis opened the scoring on an assist from Kierra Blundell during the 18’. From there, it was on as a pair of goals from Marcisz extended the lead, before Lucy Fazackerley – another senior honored before the match – found the back of the net as well to give ASU a 4-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Amy Medley connected with Sierra Bergen less than three minutes out of intermission, before Ennis recorded her brace nine minutes later. Ella Kettles and Blundell added their goals during the 72’ and 84’, respectively.

From Head Coach Graham Winkworth
“You hear it all across the athletic department: Sun Devils for Life. So, it's really wonderful seeing the alumni come back in, particularly, because there's so many members of the very first team here from 30 years ago. It's special for our current players to see how much being a Sun Devil means to people 30 years later. In 30 years, when I'm 30 years older on the sideline with my walking stick, hopefully this group's coming back and enjoying it just as much as the first group.”
From senior midfielder Peyton Marcisz
“We spend a lot of time with our alumni. We’re in contact with them, they come to practices, and we’ll even get some extra training with them as well. But having that family aspect, where people who graduated in 2011 are still coming to these matches, is really special. It’s inspiring to be a Sun Devil. And I know I’ll be coming back in the years to come, because this place means so much. I wouldn’t have taken my fifth year, if I didn’t love it. There are a lot of special things about that alumni group and how connected everyone stays.”
From senior midfielder Emmie Ennis
“To have the alumni back and have their support, it gets us excited. We want to do well for the people in the stands and people that want to watch us, especially people that come back to watch us and still want to be a part of the program. It makes everything about this program really special.”
Match Notes
- Arizona State, in 90 minutes of match time against Grambling State on Friday night, was credited with 40 shot attempts, which were the most in the program’s single-match history, surpassing the previous mark (36) set against Toledo on Sept. 18, 2022.
- Of those 40 shot attempts, 20 were on goal, marking just the second time the Sun Devils have been credited with 20-or-more shots on goal in a single match and the first since having 21 against Toledo on Sept. 18, 2022.
- Kennedy Zorn (45:00) and Izzy Duink (45:00) combined for a clean sheet against the Tigers on Friday evening, marking the second time this season the Sun Devil goalkeeping duo have combined for a clean sheet.
- The pair also split time in goal – Zorn (71:45), Duink (18:15) – during Arizona State’s 5-0 win over Buffalo on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026.

- Emmie Ennis and Peyton Marcisz’ braces continue a historic streak of at least one Sun Devil having either a brace or hat trick in a game against Grambling State.

- 2024 – Keri Matthews (2)
- 2022 – Nicole Douglas (3)
