TEMPE – Seven Sun Devils from Sun Devil Women’s Tennis were named ITA Scholar-Athletes and the team was honored by earning a spot on the All-Academic Team, the organization announced Monday.

Zlata Bartanusz, Karin Altori, Emilija Tverijonaite, Sarang Lim, Aiya Nupbay, Vivian Ovrootsky and Lily Taylor all provided excellence in the classroom by sustaining a GPA greater than 3.50 to qualify.

Ovrootsky earns her fourth career ITA Scholar-Athlete honor, and Tverijonaite garners her second ITA Scholar-Athlete honor in the last three seasons with ASU. Bartanusz, Altori, Lim and Nupbay were named to the list for the first time.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.

To be named on the ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a GPA of 3.2 or above, all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.

In June, Ovrootsky earned her first career CSC Academic All-America honor for Ovrootsky, landing on the Third Team while maintaining a 3.93 cumulative GPA and earning a master’s degree in business administration.
