IRVING, Texas – A number of student-athletes from Sun Devil Athletics earned conference academic honors as the 2026 Spring Academic All-Big 12 Team was announced on Tuesday alongside the 2025-26 Big 12 Academic All-Rookie Team and the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award winners.
Of the group honored from Arizona State, 22 individuals on the spring team and eight from the rookie team were nominated with a 4.0 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 GPA or higher, either cumulative or over the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests.
Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
For the all-rookie team, the full list of which can be seen on the Big 12 website, student-athletes are nominated by each institution’s director of student-athlete support services. Student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team must be new, first-time/incoming freshmen who have completed 24 credit hours of non-remedial coursework and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00.
Additionally, the student-athlete must have participated in at least one of their team’s scheduled contests and must have been a member of their respective team for their sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment. The Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team was introduced in the 2012-13 academic year.
The Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award is new this school year. In order to be eligible for the accolade, student-athletes must have lettered at least once in their career while maintaining residence at their institution for at least one academic year.
The honoree, who can only be recognized once, should have 90 hours of earned credit with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.80 at the time of the nomination. The award is in memory of Lage, who served as the Oklahoma State faculty athletics representative with the NCAA and the Big Eight/Big 12 Conference from 1983 until his death in 2007.
