TEMPE – On the heels of a road conference sweep last weekend, Sun Devil Softball will welcome last season’s Women’s College World Series runners-up, No. 2/5 Texas Tech Red Raiders, to Farrington Stadium for a three-game Big 12 Conference series that is scheduled to begin on Friday, April 24.

This weekend will also mark the final regular season home series of the season, so Arizona State will honor its eight-member senior class – Kenzie Brown, Kaylee Pond, Brooklyn Ulrich, Sydney Saenez, Yannixa Acuña, Tanya Windle, Aissa Silva and Yazzy Avila – following Saturday’s contest. Acuña will be the latest to join the #Door2DoorDevils club as a Sun Devil student-athlete to spend all four seasons of her collegiate eligibility in Tempe.

Series schedule

  • Friday, April 24 – vs. Texas Tech, 6 p.m. MST (ESPN2)
  • Saturday, April 25 – vs. Texas Tech, 2 p.m. MST (ESPN2)
  • Sunday, April 26 – vs. Texas Tech, 1 p.m. MST (ESPN+)

Television

  • Eric Frede (play-by-play) and Madison Shipman (analyst) will serve as the television talent for Friday and Saturday’s ESPN2 broadcasts.
  • Ryan Sykora (play-by-play) and Kelly Burke (analyst) will close out the weekend’s slate by calling Sunday’s series finale on ESPN+.

The opposition

  • This weekend will mark the eighth time Texas Tech has played against Arizona State in Tempe, with the Sun Devils having won all the previous seven meetings.
    • Friday’s game will mark the first time the Red Raiders have played the Sun Devils in Tempe since March 26, 2016, when ASU won, 7-3, behind a third-inning grand slam by Nikki Girard.
  • Arizona State won the last non-neutral site matchup between the two on April 27, 2025, when the Sun Devils won, 7-3, behind a 3-for-3 offensive performance by AJ Murphy.
  • The Sun Devils will take a 10-4 all-time record against Texas Tech into this weekend’s series.
    • Arizona State won the first nine consecutive games against the Red Raiders before Texas Tech won four of the last five meetings, including three of four matchups during the 2025 season.

Leading off

  • Samantha Swan will enter Friday night’s contest with a team-best 14-game hitting streak, one more than the previous longest set by Katie Chester from Feb. 6 against Texas State to Feb. 21 versus New Mexico State.
    • While every game of Chester’s streak occurred at Farrington Stadium, Swan has only played in four home games during the duration of her 14-game hitting streak.
    • Throughout her 14-game hitting streak, Swan has recorded at least two hits in 11 of those contests.
    • Over the course of her 14-game hitting streak, Swan is hitting .614 (27-for-44) with 11 extra base hits (seven doubles, four home runs).
    • As a result of her current 14-game hitting streak, Swan has raised her season batting average from .341 (29-85) to .434 (56-129).
  • With its next win, Arizona State will earn its 36th victory on the season, the most wins in a single season under fourth-year head coach Megan Bartlett.
    • In fact, the potential 36 wins would mark the third most wins by the Sun Devils over the last 11 seasons: 48 (2018), 43 (2022), 35 (2025/2026).
  • This weekend’s three-game series against Texas Tech will mark the first time Arizona State has hosted multiple top-five ranked teams – in the NFCA Top 25 – during the same season since playing then-No. 4 UCLA and then-No. 5 Oklahoma State during the 2022 season.
    • Furthermore, this weekend will mark the first time ASU has played multiple top three ranked – in the NFCA Top 25 – softball programs at Farrington Stadium during the same season since playing then-No. 1 Washington and then-No. 3 Oregon during Pac-12 action in the 2018 campaign.
