TEMPE – No. 16 Sun Devil Women’s Tennis returns to Whiteman Tennis Center, hosting Kansas on Friday, March 27, at 5 p.m. MST and Iowa State on Sunday, March 29, at noon.

The Sun Devils have won three straight Big 12 matches coming into the week and did not drop a point in their pair of wins over West Virginia and Iowa State. Graduate Vivian Ovrootsky moved to 14-0 in dual matches, and Junior Emilija Tverijonaite moved to 10-2 this spring.
Last time out
Arizona State went 2-0 last week in both matches against Big 12 foes. First on Thursday, they beat West Virginia 4-0, with Ovrootsky clinching the win for the Sun Devils in a win over Laura Morillo, 6-4, 6-2.
ASU then faced Cincinnati on Saturday and also performed exceptionally well with a 4-0 win. Junior No. 22 Emilija Tverijonaite won her 70th career singles match without losing a game, in a 6-0, 6-0 win. Sophomore Aiya Nupbay clinched the win for the Sun Devils, winning her singles match, 6-3, 6-2

No. 16 Arizona State (13-4, 5-2 Big 12)
- Arizona State is 5-1 all-time against Kansas; however, it is searching for its first win over the Jayhawks in conference play.
- The Sun Devils are 3-0 against the Jayhawks all-time in Tempe.
- ASU is 6-0 all-time against the Cyclones and has won all five matchups in Tempe. It’s the first visit Iowa State has made to the desert since January 21, 2011.

- One win in singles this weekend would be the most since Marianna Argyrokastriti won 27 singles matches in the 2022-23 season.
- Ovrootsky leads the team with 14 wins this dual season, including a perfect 12-0 mark from the No. 3 position. She has won 28 of her last 29 sets since the dual season began.
- In the latest ITA singles Rankings, Ovrootsky is ranked No. 118 in the country, and Tverijonaite is No. 22. It’s the first time this spring that both players have been ranked in singles.
- ASU is 9-2 this season when Tverijonaite wins from the No. 1 spot.
- The Sun Devils are 9-0 this spring when they win the doubles point.
- Junior Sara Svetac has won five of her last six singles matches, boasting a 7-3 record this spring in singles.
- Sophomore Aiya Nupbay has won five-straight singles matches entering the weekend, all earning victories in straight sets. She clinched the win against Cincinnati last Sunday.
- The Sun Devils have four wins this season when they lose the doubles point, surpassing their 2025 total of three wins last year when they fell in doubles.

No. 34 Kansas (9-7, 5-2 Big 12)
- Kansas has won five games against ranked opponents, with its last one coming against No. 19 UCF on Sunday, March 22, with a 4-1 win.
- After starting the season 4-6, the Jayhawks have won five of their last six matches.
- According to the latest ITA singles Rankings, Kyoka Kubo is ranked No. 53 in the country, with a record of 18-8. She went 2-0 over the weekend.
- The Jayhawks have the 47th-ranked doubles pair in the country, with Heike Janse Van Vuuren and Kyoka Kubo having a 7-6 season record.
- Last season, Kansas defeated Arizona State, 4-2, in Lawrence.
