BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 10 Sun Devil Beach Volleyball fell to No. 6 Florida State (4-1) and No. 12 LSU (3-2) on the final day of the Death Volley Invitational on Saturday.
After going 1-3 on the weekend, Arizona State is now 12-6 on the year. Despite the ranked losses, ASU remains undefeated against unranked opponents under head coach Kristen Glattfelder.
Senior Arden Besecker hit 50 career wins today after winning on court three against LSU in the second dual of the day. She and sophomore Zoë Taylor are 14-4 this season, which leads the team. Besecker is tied for 10th in the ASU record book for career individual wins with 50.
Also moving up in the record book after today is senior Daniella Kensinger, who now has 51 wins while in Tempe, 72 in her career. She is in ninth in the Arizona State record book.
Game one: No. 6 FSU 4, No. 10 ASU 1 /// Final Box
After dropping all first sets in both waves, two pairs took it to a final third set. The No. 3 Daniella Kensinger and Olivia McElroy was the only duo to come out with a match win over the Seminoles (16-21, 21-19, 17-15).
Game two: No. 12 LSU 3, No. 10 ASU 2 /// Final Box
After going down 2-0 in the first wave, the Sun Devils battled to make it close. No. 1 Samaya Morin and Ava Kirunchyk (21-14, 21-19) and No. 3 Arden Besecker and Zoë Taylor (21-17, 21-18) won their matches to tie the dual at 2-2. It all came down to court two, which went to a third set. However, LSU was able to come away with the win.
