TEMPE – Sun Devil Gymnastics is back on the road this week, traveling to Salt Lake City to face No. 14 Utah, the defending Big 12 Champions, on Friday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m. MST.

Sun Devil outlook
Arizona State (3-1, 1-0 Big 12)

  • Arizona State took advantage of a close meet after BYU suffered a pair of falls on beam in the final rotation. Paired with two 9.900s on floor for ASU, the Sun Devils were able to score a season high of 196.050 to get the win.
  • The Gym Devils scored new season highs on beam (49.075) and floor (49.225), the latter being the best event total across all four this season. 
  • Senior Kimberly Smith is this week's Big 12 Gymnast of the Week, the first weekly award of her career. She had the best meet of her career against BYU, earning a new career high in the all-around with a 39.475. She earned season highs on vault (9.850), beam (9.850) and floor (9.900). This season, she has yet to score below a 9.825 on floor. In the last two meets, she has scored below a 9.825 across all four events just once.
  • Freshmen have been key contributors this season. Kylee Bromely, Safia El Mammann and Delanie Kelly have competed the most, each having done at least two events in each meet. Bromley has won four event titles this season. 

Opponent outlook
No. 14 Utah (6-3, 1-0 Big 12)

  • Utah started off Big 12 play with a win over Iowa State. However, the Utes struggled, counting a fall on both bars and floor for a team total of 195.725.
  • Last season, the Utes finished No. 4 in the nation at the NCAA Championships. They also won the 2025 Big 12 Championship.
  • In the all-time series with ASU, the Sun Devils trail, 10-39-1. Arizona State’s last win over Utah came in 2023 in Tempe.
