TEMPE – Kicking off Big 12 play, Sun Devil Gymnastics returns home to host No. 22 BYU on Friday at 7 p.m. MST at Desert Financial Arena. 

Fan information
The meet will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sun Devil Gymnastics, welcoming alumni back to Desert Financial Arena. There will be a keychain giveaway for fans, which will be handed out at the east tunnel. 

Fans should also be aware that Sun Devil Hockey plays on Friday night at the same time at Mullett Arena, potentially causing a higher level of traffic in the area. Parking will be free as always in lot 59 for gymnastics fans.

The meet will be live on ESPN+, with live scoring available on Virtius as well. Updates will be provided on social media @SunDevilGym on X and @sundevilgymnastics on Instagram.

Sun Devil outlook
Arizona State (2-1)

  • In their first road meet of the year, the Gym Devils beat Kentucky and earned a new season high of 195.750.
  • Arizona State scored 49.100 on floor, the highest event score for the team so far across all four events. ASU also set season highs on bars (48.875) and beam (48.825).
  • Senior Kimberly Smith earned the bars title with a score of 9.875. Her 9.875 is tied for the highest score of the season for the Gym Devils so far. She set a new season high in the all-around with a 39.300. 
  • Freshman Kylee Bromley continued to shine in her first season. She tied for the beam title with teammate Kayla Lee with a 9.850, which was a new personal best on that event. She also set season highs in the all-around (39.225), vault (9.775) and bars (9.850). 

Opponent outlook
No. 22 BYU (3-2)

  • No. 22 BYU is coming off a win against Boise State, where the Cougars won with a score of 196.300. 
  • Last season, BYU went 9-16, with a 3-3 record in the Big 12. The team advanced to NCAA Regionals.
  • The Sun Devils faced off against the Cougars twice last season, with ASU losing the first meeting but winning the second. ASU is 13-2 all-time against BYU.
