TEMPE – In another historic season under third-year head coach JJ Van Niel, Sun Devil Volleyball proved its staying power by repeating as Big 12 Champions and making noise in the NCAA Tournament.

Team Accomplishments
In 2025, back-to-back Big 12 Champion Arizona State made it to the NCAA Regional Semifinal for the second time in the last three seasons (fourth overall) after another stellar season atop the conference. Despite an entirely new starting lineup, ASU had a 28-4 overall record (second in team history for winning percentage) with a 17-1 mark in conference play in 2025. The Sun Devils put together an impressive campaign that saw eight ranked wins, 12 sweeps and win streaks of 12 and 10.

The 28 wins accumulated this season tie for the second-most wins in program history this century and third-most all-time. The 2025 Sun Devils also set the record for most block assists in a single season in team history with 548 and the longest streak of double-digit blocks in team history at 12 consecutive games.

For the second season in a row, the Sun Devils went undefeated at home in the regular season, extending their home win streak to 28-consecutive regular season matches. Additionally, Arizona State has a 36-1 regular-season home record under third-year head coach JJ Van Niel. The Sun Devils picked up two postseason wins at home during the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament, for which they were a host site for the second year in a row.

The Sun Devils spent the majority of the season ranked inside the top 10 in the country, ending the season at No. 12, the third-straight season finishing the year in the top 20. Ranking as high as No. 6, the new-look offense powered Arizona State to the fourth-best match win-loss percentage in the country and the best hitting percentage in the Big 12. Additionally, the block played a major role in the team’s success. The Sun Devils led the conference in blocks and blocks per set this season, ranking in the top 25 in those categories as well.

Awards and Honors
Arizona State was led by Big 12 Player of the Year Noemie Glover, who collected the first conference player of the year award in Sun Devil history. She was also named an AVCA First Team All-American and is the only member of the Big 12 represented on the first team.

Additionally, Glover was one of three Sun Devils named to the AVCA Pacific All-Region Team. Named a semifinalist for the AVCA National Player of the Year award, Glover was also named to the All-Big 12 First Team and earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the week three times, the most weekly awards of any Sun Devil this season.

Senior outside hitter Bailey Miller and graduate student middle blocker Colby Neal also received All-America honors, as both received honorable mentions. Both were also named to the All-Big 12 First Team and AVCA Pacific All-Region Team.

Sophomore libero Faith Frame received All-Big 12 Second Team honors, and redshirt freshman opposite Kiylah Presley was named to the All-Big 12 Rookie Team.

Van Niel added another Big 12 Coach of the Year honor to his resume, his second in as many seasons. Additionally, the award marks the third-straight season that Van Niel has been named conference coach of the year, as he won the Pac-12 award in 2023. He now joins a small group of Division 1 volleyball coaches to win three conference coach of the year awards in their first three seasons with a team: Mary Wise (Florida, 1991-93) and Geoff Carlson (Ohio, 2003-06).

Arizona State also shined in the classroom, as four Sun Devils were named to this year’s CSC Academic All-District Team: Frame, Miller, Neal and junior middle blocker Ella Lomigora.

Individual Success
The Sun Devils received contributions from every person in the starting lineup, proving how well-rounded the team could be. Six Sun Devils had over 100 kills and two had over 300. Additionally, five Sun Devils collected over 100 digs, three had over 100 blocks and three had over 20 aces.

Glover, the junior opposite, lit up the stat sheet in her first season in Tempe, leading the Sun Devils with 423 kills. In all but one match she played, Glover reached double-digit kills, including four matches with 20 or more kills. She also led the pin hitters in hitting percentage, swinging at a .363 clip.

Honorable mention All-Americans Miller and Neal added to the Sun Devils’ firepower. Miller, a senior outside hitter, was second on the Sun Devils in kills, with 392, and kills per set, averaging 3.29. She also led the Sun Devils in aces, with 39. Miller was one of only three Sun Devils to appear in every set this season.

Neal led the Sun Devils at the net, picking up 171 total blocks, which was the most for any player in the Big 12, and tied for eighth in the nation. She also had 167 kills, which was fourth-most of any Sun Devil. Neal now stands second in Sun Devil history for block assists in a single season, with 151, and hitting percentage, a .421 clip.

Senior outside hitter Tatum Parrott added stability and experience to the outside hitter core, providing a complement to Miller, as both played all six rotations. She picked up 224 kills and 48 blocks, as well as 203 digs. With the Sun Devils, she also reached 200 career blocks.

First year Sun Devils Frame and Lomigora both made impacts in big ways. Frame tallied 378 digs, averaging 3.18 per set. She ranked 10th in the Big 12 in digs and was top 10 in the conference in digs for the second season in a row (sixth in 2024 with Cincinnati). Lomigora was second on the team in blocks, and ninth in the Big 12, with 136. She also appeared in every set for the Sun Devils.

Presley made a name for herself on the right side, picking up 165 kills and 63 blocks. The redshirt freshman played in all but one match and was named to the Big 12 All-Rookie Team.

Setters Sydney Henry and Brynn Covell rounded out the starting lineup for the Sun Devils. Running a true 6-2 offense, the duo split setting duties, with Covell appearing in every match and Henry playing in all but one. Henry tallied 792 assists, good for ninth most in the Big 12, and 197 digs. Covell added 493 assists of her own, as well as 171 digs. The two handled the offense well as Arizona State had the highest hitting percentage in the Big 12.

Next Season
The Sun Devils will graduate the majority of their starting lineup, with six student-athletes ending their college journeys: Covell, Henry, Miller, Neal, Parrott and Estella Zatechka. Six Sun Devils that appeared in at least 25 matches will return, including starters Frame, Glover and Lomigora. The Sun Devils have also signed incoming freshmen Ella Hope, Paige Lehman, Grace Martin and Elle Mottola.
