TEMPE – Having found recent success in the transfer portal, Sun Devil Soccer head coach Graham Winkworth re-visited the familiar land and left with three student-athletes signing an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA) as Kennedy Zorn, Emily Ennis and Djem Koppelaar will all join the Arizona State program for the 2026 season. The trio will join incoming freshman Amy Medley and arrive in Tempe as mid-year enrollees.
Zorn returns to The Grand Canyon State as the Peoria, Ariz., native and Sunrise Mountain High School graduate after spending her true freshman in 2025 as a Michigan State Spartan. During her time in East Lansing, Mich., Zorn appeared in five games and posted 0.44 goals against average to go along with a .833 save percentage. She posted two 90-minute clean sheets (vs. Dayton, 8/17; vs. Milwaukee, 8/24). She also did not allow a goal on the road at Xavier (8/31). Zorn earned the start in MSU’s Big 10 opener at Rutgers (9/12).
Before taking her talents to Michigan, Zorn played club soccer at SC del Sol in Phoenix. She was ranked as a four-star prospect and the 39th overall prospect in the nation, according to TopDrawerSoccer. She’s attended nine different training camps and competitions while representing US Soccer. Additionally, she’s a two-time CONCACAF champion at the U-15 and U-17 level, respectively. She was also a U-16 Montaigu Cup champion in 2023.
“We recruited (Kennedy) the first time around and were delighted that she has decided to follow in the footsteps of other Sun Devil legends and come home to be a hometown hero,” Winkworth said. “With Pauli graduating, we always knew it was going to be very difficult to bring someone in who has similar qualities in both shot stopping and distribution. KK has demonstrated her qualities both at a high level in club but also for the USYNT U-17 squad.”
Ennis, who also goes by Emmie, is a 5-foot-6 midfielder out of Burlingame, Calif., by way of St. Ignatius College Prep. She comes to ASU after appearing in 47 career matches over a three-season span at Saint Mary’s College of California. She’s totaled 3,030 career minutes played on the pitch, while totaling 12 points on six assists and three goals. Her two career game-winning goals occurred against San Jose State (8/28) and Pepperdine (10/25) during the 2025 campaign.
Prior to her collegiate career, Ennis was named the SFIAC Athlete of the Year, All-WCAL, All-City and team most valuable player as a senior at St. Ignatius Prep in San Francisco. On the club scene, she played for Bay Area and San Digo Surf and played for the national championship with her 2004 squad. Ennis has also been invited to and attended USYNT U-14, U-15 and U-16 camps, while also having joined the SF Glens USLW women’s league during their first season in 2023.
“Emmie has the ability to play as both a wingback and a central midfielder,” Winkworth said. “She was a captain on a very successful St. Mary’s team this past season and has tons of ability. She will be a senior and I have no double that her experience will really help the younger players we have in the group.”
Koppelaar, a 5-foot-9 defender, spent her true freshman season in 2025 on Chapel Hill as a member of the UNC Tarheel program. She appeared in two matches – both against non-conference opponents – for a total of 19 minutes during her time in North Carolina. She played a career-high 12 minutes against Rice on Aug. 24, before coming off the bench for seven minutes against UNC Greensboro four days later.
Born in Sliedrecht, South Holland, Netherlands, Kopperlaar competed at Sint-Joris College, before spending time at PSV Eindhoven, where she helped the club win a first division championship. She was also selected for the Netherlands U-16 National Team.
“Djem is another great addition to our back line,” Winkworth said. “Equally comfortable playing centrally or in wide areas, she shows excellent quality in possession and really suits our style of play. Her experience with the Netherlander youth national team will really help us and hopefully she can follow in the footsteps of Lieske Carleer, who is now with the top Dutch national team.”
