PASADENA, Calif. – Sun Devil Soccer senior midfielder Brianna Nunley has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Rose Bowl Game Keith Jackson Postgraduate Scholarship, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses and The Rose Bowl Game announced on Thursday afternoon. Nunley will be awarded a $10,000 scholarship towards her postgraduate education in addition to receiving a unique and specialized work-study experience at the 2026 Rose Bowl Game.

"Bri’s accomplishments as a standout student-athlete at ASU are extraordinary and we are thrilled to honor her as this year’s recipient of the Rose Bowl Game Keith Jackson Scholarship," said Mark Leavens, 2026 President of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses. "The Tournament of Roses is confident in Bri's commitment to become a leader in the sports industry, and we look forward to hosting her in Pasadena on New Year’s Day.”

Nunley, a Chandler, Ariz., native, totaled 905 career minutes played throughout 38 career matches over a four-year career for head coach Graham Winkworth. She played in a career-high 15 matches, including making six starts, during her senior season in 2025. In the classroom, Nunley earned a 3.76 cumulative grade point average as a Marketing major.

Nunley serves as president of both the ASU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the EmpowHER organization. Bri is also an active member of the Tip of the Fork Leadership Development Program, which aims to develop Sun Devil student athletes into transformative leaders. She is also a standout student, having been named to the ASU Dean’s List and the Big 12 Conference All-Academic Team. Following her graduation, Bri plans to pursue a dual degree in Law and a master’s degree in Sports Law and Business at ASU where she aims to become a leader who will advocate for athletes’ rights, strengthen representation, and help shape the future of the sports industry.

Marco Salas, current Sun Devil Athletics Social Media Specialist, was the Pac-12 Conference’s recipient of the scholarship in 2022. Prior to Thursday’s announcement to recognize Nunley, Salas, who graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in sports journalism from ASU in May of 2022, was the last Sun Devil to be selected as a winner of the scholarship. Salas was also a four-year letterwinner for Sun Devil Football during his undergraduate years.

The scholarship is open to undergraduate students who are in their final year of course study with an intended graduation date on or before June 2026. The student has consistently demonstrated high levels of achievement in academic and civic service throughout their collegiate career. An independent committee will select the recipient to receive the scholarship.

The Rose Bowl Game Keith Jackson Postgraduate Scholarship is an annual scholarship that recognizes one senior student from a FBS school – that is eligible to play in the 2026 CFP Quarterfinal at the Rose Bowl Game – for exception achievement in academics and civic service, who also wishes to pursue a career in the sports industry, with an emphasis on journalism, media relations, event operations, team operations or marketing. The scholarship is merit-based and features a one-time, non-renewable $10,000 financial award for the recipient. The scholarship will be funded directly to the recipient’s postgraduate institution upon verification of enrollment within 18 months of graduation. The Keith Jackson Postgraduate Scholarship is funded by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.

The scholarship, which was launched in 2019, is named on behalf of Keith Jackson, who was the voice of college football for several generations. In addition of being a man of many catchphrases, including “Whoa, Nellie” and “Big Uglies,” Jackson was also credited with popularizing the Rose Bowl Game’s nickname as “The Granddaddy of Them All.” He was on the call for the Rose Bowl Game on 15 occasions, more than any other broadcaster, between 1989 and 2006, before calling his final game in the broadcast booth at the 2006 BCS National Championship at the Rose Bowl Game.
