#3/18 Swim and Dive faces #8/3 Stanford and #T4/5 California in Tri-Meet beginning Friday
TEMPE – Following a week away from competition, No. 3/18 Sun Devil Swim and Dive travels to the Bay Area to face some of the top swim teams in the country against No. 8/3 Stanford and No. T4/5 California beginning Friday at 2 p.m. MST and Saturday at 11 a.m. MST.
Stanford will host day one of the meet at Avery Aquatic Center on Friday, and California will host day two at Spieker Aquatics Center on Saturday.
The meet will be streamed on ACC Network Xtra as part of an ESPN+ subscription, with live results on Meet Mobile. Coverage can be followed on the team’s social media accounts X @ASUSwimDive and Instagram @Sundevilswimdive.
Both men’s and women’s teams took home the All-Arizona Showdown crown on Oct. 10 in Tucson. Senior Deniz Ertan swam the 10th fastest time in the country in the 1000 free in 9:45.33 and won the 500 free in 4:47.84, respectively. Ginger McMahon swam a season-best 1:00.91 in the 100 breast, which currently ranks second in the Big 12.
Julia Ullmann currently holds the sixth fastest time in the 100 fly, clocking in at 51.99.
The men’s side had four of the five fastest 50 freestyles in the country and five of the top eight so far this season. Remi Fabiani currently has the fastest time at 18.89, with transfer Adam Chaney with a sub-19 second time of 18.95. Fiji Olympian Tolu Young ranks third at 19.13, and All-American Jonny Kulow is fifth in the country at 19.19.
Fabiani has the second fastest 100 free time, clocking in at 41.74, and the second fastest 200 free time in 1:32.66. Chaney holds the top mark in the 100 back at 44.46. Junior Ilya Kharun has the fastest 100 fly time at 43.91, the only collegiate swimmer under 44 seconds this season. He also holds the fastest 200 fly time at 1:37.94.
The ASU men's 400-free relay team has the fastest time in the country at 2:47.01, and the fastest 200-medley relay time, 1:21.88, early this season.
The California Golden Bears came out on top at the Triton Invitational for both men’s and women’s teams. The men won eight events on the second day, showing their dominance. The women’s side defeated No. 3 Stanford as part of a five-team meet in La Jolla, California.
The former Pac-12 foe finished second at the NCAA Championships on the men’s side. The women’s team finished eighth last March.
Stanford women’s team finished second earlier this season in the Triton Invitational and won last year’s tri-meet. Led by Olympic gold medalist Torri Huske, the Cardinal finished second at the NCAA Championships.

The Sun Devils will return to Mona Plummer Aquatic Center on Nov. 7. The women’s team will host UCLA at 3 p.m. MST and then host a dual against USC the next day at 11 a.m. MST.
