TEMPE - Sun Devil football wide receiver Jordyn Tyson is the latest Sun Devil recognized nationally for his performance on Friday.

Tyson was named the Senior Bowl Offensive Player of the Week and was an honorable mention selection for the Earl Campbel Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week (top player with ties to the state of Texas). Tyson earned the honors after another spectacular effort in Arizona State's thrilling 27-24 comeback win over No. 24 TCU at Mountain America Stadium.

Arizona State Football | The Recap: Game 5 vs TCU

Senior Bowl Offensive Player of the Week; Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week (honorable mention) - Jordyn Tyson

  • Sun Devil Football won their fifth game over an AP Top 25 team in the past two seasons when they defeated No. 24 TCU on Friday night.
  • Wide receiver Jordyn Tyson was a big reason why, as he put together another fantastic performance.
  • He exploded for eight catches for 126 yards and two touchdowns and proved to be nearly unguardable throughout the contest.
  • Tyson has now recorded at least two receptions in 17-straight contests, dating back to Aug. 31, 2024, when he hauled in four catches in Arizona State’s 48-7 win over Wyoming.
  • His second-quarter touchdown was 57 yards, the longest of his career. It came with the Sun Devils trailing 17-0 with 4:51 left in the first half and sparked the ASU comeback effort.
  • Tyson also secured the game-tying touchdown with 1:50 left in regulation on a fourth down conversion, evening the game at 24 and setting up for the Prince Dorbah strip sack which led to the Sun Devil victory.
  • He has now caught 10 touchdown passes in the final five minutes of a half in his career. When including a punt return for a score during the 2022 season, Tyson has 11 total touchdowns in the closing five minutes of either half.
  • Tyson's fourth quarter score was his 10th touchdown in the fourth quarter of a game in his career (9 receiving, 1 punt return) - two more than any active player in the FBS.
  • He now has at least one receiving touchdown in his last six games played, dating back to the Sun Devils’ 49-7 win against Arizona on Nov. 30, 2024. He did not play in ASU’s Big 12 Championship or College Football Playoff games, thus not making it six consecutive games played.
  • Tyson has had five games in which he has caught multiple touchdown passes as a Sun Devil.
  • He now has eight games with 100 or more receiving yards as a Sun Devil.
  • Over his last 7 home games, he has posted three 100-yard games and is averaging 108.0 yards per game.
  • Tyson has accounted for 89 receptions for 1,215 yards and 14 touchdowns (110.5 ypg) over his last 11 games overall.
  • His seven touchdown receptions this season are tied for the most of any FBS player (Tennessee's Chris Brazzell II).
  • Tyson has 483 receiving yards, the fifth-most of any FBS player so far this season.
  • His 39 receptions are tied for second nationally and he is averaging 7.8 receptions per game this season.
  • Tyson's career mark of 4.7 receptions per game ties him for the fourth-best average among all active FBS players.

“It’s a testament to my team. I can't do without them and God above. It is special to be able to go out and play in that environment. I am proud of the guys for fighting back and closing the game strong.”

The ASU Victory...

  • Marked ASU’s first official 2-0 start in conference play since 2012 in the Pac-12 (all ASU’s victories in a 3-0 Pac-12 start in 2021 were later vacated).
  • Gave ASU its second consecutive 4-1 start to a season, marking the first time the Sun Devils have done it in back-to-back years since the 2011 and 2012 campaigns.
  • Extended ASU’s home winning streak to nine consecutive victories, which would matches its longest in the regular season since a nine-game stretch between the 2012-14 seasons (lost to Stanford in 2013 Pac-12 Championship game at home). It is the longest overall home win streak since a 14-game run spanning the 1980 and 1982 seasons.
  • Gave ASU its eighth straight victory over an opponent from the Big 12
  • Moved ASU to 8-6 against schools from the state of Texas since the 2000 season, while giving the Sun Devils their third victory over a Texas school in as many weeks.
  • Ended TCU’s seven-game winning streak dating back to last season, which was currently tied for the second-longest active winning streak in the nation behind Memphis (8).
  • Gave the Sun Devils their sixth win over a Top-25 program in a home Blackout game since the 2011 season.
  • Became the first win in the Dillingham era while trailing at halftime.
  • Is the first time the program has won with the exact same score in back-to-back weeks (2025, 27-24, 27-24) since 1963 (35-6, 35-6)
  • Was the largest come-from-behind win against a ranked opponent at home in school history

“It’s a play we’ve been running since I first got here and we really haven't hit it once in a game yet. We've been talking about it for a long time. It’s a really good, low red zone, high red zone concept. We've been repping ‘Bang’ for two years and it’s the first time hitting it at the biggest moment. So, it's a fourth-and-goal, bread and butter.”

Raised his Game
In his first six games as a Sun Devil, Tyson compiled 25 receptions for 369 yards and three touchdowns (61.5 ypg). Over the 11 games since, he has accounted for 89 receptions for 1,215 yards and 14 touchdowns (110.5 ypg).

Mr. Consistency
Jordyn Tyson has caught a touchdown in all five games this year, the longest streak by an Arizona State player to begin a season since Keith Poole in 1996 (six). The last Big 12 player with a longer such streak was Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb in 2019 (six).

Milestone watch
- Jordyn Tyson went over 2,000 career receiving yards in the win over TCU (currently at 2,054). He has the 14th-most career receiving yards of any active FBS player. Tyson is the lone player in the country with more than 2,000 career receiving yards in less than 30 career games (29).
- Jordyn Tyson is four receiving touchdowns shy of 25 career receiving touchdowns (currently at 21). He has the fourth-most receiving touchdowns of any active FBS player. He only trails Arkansas State's Corey Rucker (25 TD in 53 games), Miami's CJ Daniels (24 TD in 57 games), and Indiana's Elijah Surratt (22 TD in 31 games).
- Jordyn Tyson is 14 receptions away from 150 career receptions (currently at 136). Of players with at least 135 career receptions, Tyson is joined by Texas A&M's KC Concepcion as the only two to have played in less than 30 games (29).
