PHOENIX - Sun Devil Baseball will return to Phoenix Municipal Stadium to host four straight home games after its first road trip of the season that included the start of Big 12 conference play.
The Sun Devils made a quick stop in Tucson, dropping a 3-2 nail-biter to the Wildcats in a midweek non-conference game. The next stop led them to the heart of Texas, where the Horned Frogs of TCU awaited to open Big 12 play.
After a tough Friday night loss, the Sun Devil bats caught fire and piled up 26 runs on Saturday. ASU's 26 runs were tied for the most-ever allowed by the historic Horned Frogs' program and the most for the Sun Devils in a conference game since 2000. ASU recorded 28 hits in the contest, the most given up by TCU in a game in program history.
The encore performance brought a 12-11 win headlined by Brody Briggs. The redshirt freshman collected his first two collegiate homers - a grand slam and a three-run shot - for seven RBIs to propel his team to its first series victory in the Big 12 era.
ASU will look to keep the momentum rolling as former Pac-12 rival USC returns to Phoenix for a Tuesday night tilt. This will be the first game between the former conference mates since exiting the Pac-12. The Sun Devils took the last conference series between the two in April 2024 and hold a 117-112 advantage in the historic rivalry.
The weekend ahead will include the first home series in the Big 12 era as Kansas is penciled in for a three-game set. The Jayhawks have started out the season red hot, coming in at 17-3 after a series win against Baylor. The Sun Devils lead the all-time series 3-1, with the most recent matchup dating back to 2011.
