- Helped platoon the team’s catching staff, appearing in 32 games and starting 28 … Finished with a .275 average in his first season of action with 20 RBIs, five homers and five doubles
- Was solid as a backstop, recording just one error on 301 chances for a .997 fielding percentage
- Was the unlikely hero of the team’s rubber match win over TCU early in the season out of the nine-hole as he recorded his first two collegiate homers - a grand slam and a three-run shot - for seven huge RBIs
- Became a part of history in the series finale against BYU, homering twice in the same inning as part of ASU’s school record eight-home run night and both times came in back-to-back fashion with Isaiah Jackson … There had been just one instance in the MLB databank of two players going back-to-back jacks twice in the same inning, as Jackson and Briggs did in that BYU game, when the Mariners Mike Cameron and Bret Boone did it on May 2, 2002.

- Led the Anchorage Bucs to the League Title while posting a .259 average, while reaching base at a .370 clip
