TEMPE – No. 10 Water Polo (11-3, 0-1 MPSF) took down Salem (3-7, 0-0) 17-7, and LIU (5-6, 0-0) 20-9 on Saturday at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center, extending their home tournament record to 6-0.
The first game of the day had a short stretch of back-and-forth before the Sun Devils were able to pull ahead and solidify their win over the Tigers. Freshman Hannah McClaskey was the only Sun Devil able to notch 3+ goals, her second time doing so this season.
In the second highest goal scoring game this season, the Sun Devils surpassed the Sharks as 10 different goal-scorers aided in the winning ways of Arizona State. Millie Quin (5), Karly Frangieh (3), and Itziar Almeda (3) all had 3+ goal games in the tilt against LIU.
Keri Glad, Marie Rudasics, and Ashley Byron all saw action in between the pipes today as the three goalkeepers tallied 27 saves for the Sun Devils. Marie Rudasics tied her career high of 12 saves in the match against LIU.

Arizona State was dominant on the defensive side and didn't allow a single netted goal in the second quarter. On top of that, goalie Maire Rudasics made a miraculous save on a penalty shot to close out the first half. Itziar Almeda and Molly Glad snuck one in through the goal posts to increase the Sun Devils lead to 8-3.
Hannah McClaskey found the back of the net again for her third goal of the match. On top of that, Gabby Gaetano, Leila Meraz and Molly Ostrowski all netted their first goal of the match to give Arizona State a promising 12-4 lead heading into the last quarter of the match.
The Sun Devils closed out the match victorious with a 17-7 win against the Tigers. Karly Frangieh and Kat Featherstone each netted a goal to pull away from Salem in the final quarter. On top of that, Alison Kokorowski slammed one past the goalie on a penalty shot for their one and only penalty shot of the match.
Game 2: No. 10 Arizona State 20, LIU 9
The Sun Devils came out on a mission in the first quarter scoring three goals to begin the contest. Zoey Frangieh opened the scoring off a slick feed from Kat Featherstone before Sophie Shorter-Robinson and Millie Quin tallied goals of their own. Karly Frangieh and Ani Pamp tacked on another two for ASU, but LIU capitalized on two penalty shots to stay within reach. Quin followed with back-to-back goals in quick succession to capture a first quarter hat trick and the high scoring first quarter ended with Arizona State in front 8-3.
Itziar Almeda led the way for ASU to start the second quarter grabbing two goals to extend the lead to 10-4. The Sun Devil defense held firm with goalkeeper Keri Glad making multiple saves throughout the period to limit the damage. Hannah McClaskey kept up the scoring for Arizona State with a cheeky floater over the goalie before Zoey Frangieh made it 12-5 heading into halftime.
ASU continued to apply the pressure in the second half trading two goals for one through the remainder of the match. Quin finished with five goals in the game and Almeda followed her lead scoring a hat trick of her own. Marie Rudasics made several saves after coming in at the half and the Sun Devils finished the job with a resounding 20-9 victory.
