Arizona State (12-11, 3-9) will visit United Supermarkets Arena to take on the Red Raiders (18-5, 9-3), who were ranked No. 12 in the latest AP Poll. The Sun Devils will seek their second straight win over a Top-25 team on the road, having previously defeated No. 23 West Virginia earlier in the year. Head Coach Bobby Hurley seeks his 14th win over a ranked opponent with the Maroon and Gold.
The Matchup
Arizona State renews what was previously a common matchup with Texas Tech. The two programs have met 41 times previously, making them the most frequent opponent of all the original Big 12 schools that stayed in the conference. This is the first of two meetings with the Red Raiders, who make the return trip to Tempe for ASU's regular season finale. The Sun Devils trail the all-time series 19-22, but are currently on a six-game win streak over Texas Tech, including sweeping a home-and-home series back in 2012-13.

Last Time Out
Down two wing players (Adam Miller and B.J. Freeman), ASU lost freshman Jayden Quaintance early with an ankle injury and never could sustain a run in falling at Oklahoma State 86-73 Sunday afternoon. Down by as many as 19 in the second half, ASU cut the deficit to seven twice in the final eight minutes.
Alston Mason did all he could, notching 16 first half points as ASU (12-11; 3-9) trailed 43-33 at the break as Quaintance played just nine minutes before having to sit. OSU led by 15 with just over six minutes left before ASU closed the first half strong as Mason had its final 10 points in the final four minutes.

Swipes in Stillwater
Arizona State finished with a season-best 12 steals in their previous game against Oklahoma State. That included three each from Jayden Quaintance, Alston Mason, and Basheer Jihad. Quaintance was on pace for a historic game from a defensive standpoint, posting one block and three steals in only nine minutes of action.
From the Stripe
A bright spot in the loss was Arizona State's ability to knock down shots from the free throw line. The Sun Devils finished 22-of-26 (85%) from the line despite being on the road in a hostile environment. The backcourt of Alston Mason and Joson Sanon combined to go 12-of-13 from the stripe.
Double A Insurance
Freshman Amier Ali made the most of his playing time in a shorthanded situation at Oklahoma State. Ali recorded his first career double double, finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds in 35 minutes. He was also 4-for-4 from the free throw line and added a steal and an assist. He now has four games reaching double figures scoring coming off the bench.
Road Tests
Arizona State has played in some of the toughest road environments in the nation. In their exhibition matchup with Duke, Head Coach Bobby Hurley and his squad experienced Cameron Indoor Stadium to start the year. Their third game of the regular season was at 'The Kennel', home of the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Their first Big 12 Conference game was in front of 16,000+ at the Marriott Center against BYU. ASU then made their return to Allen Fieldhouse to take on Kansas. The three programs are a combined 156-17 (90.2%) over the past four years at home. Hurley had his team ready for the challenge at West Virginia on the road, picking up a Quad 1 win in one of the toughest atmospheres in the country. The Sun Devils have a total of seven wins away from home.
One of One
Freshman forward Jayden Quaintance has proven to be one of the nation's most unique and versatile athletes. He is currently the ONLY PLAYER IN THE NATION averaging at least 9.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks. He produces at that high of a level while playing 31.5 minutes per game. Quaintance is averaging exactly 9.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks with room to spare on two of the three qualifiers.
Buying Stocks
Quaintance has combined for 87 'stocks' (62 blocks + 25 steals) in 22 games so far this season. He is one of only two players in the nation (only high major conference player) to boast these numbers (60+ blocks and 25+ steals) despite missing a full game and exiting another with ten minutes remaining in first half. The next closest Power 4 + Big East player is Creighton senior center Ryan Kalkbrenner with 81 stocks through 23 games (64 blocks + 17 steals). For comparison, National Defensive Player of the Year candidate Johni Broome from Auburn has 74 stocks in 21 games (57 blocks + 17 steals).
Block Party
Freshman Jayden Quaintance has recorded 62 blocks thus far in the 2024-2025 season and averages the fourth-most blocks per game (2.9) of any player in the nation. He broke the program freshman record and did so in only 18 games. He has two or more blocks in 18 of 22 games this year, including eight 4+ block performances.

Hitting the Glass
Not only has Quaintance solidified his status as a premier shot blocker nationally, he has also been outstanding on the glass. He is third nationally among freshmen in rebounds per game and fourth in total rebounds. Quaintance has the fifth most total rebounds in the Big 12 by any player (180) despite missing a game.
