TEMPE – Sun Devil Gymnastics returns to Desert Financial Arena to face non-conference opponent Texas Woman's University on Friday at 6:30 p.m. MST for the first of three-straight Friday home meets.

The Gym Devils secured their first Big 12 victory in a close contest at Iowa State last Friday. Arizona State set a new season-high team score in the meet and graduate Emily White took home the all-around title. 

Friday's meet is also Arizona State's Big 12 Mental Health Meet and Junior Sun Devil Club Night. There will be a green giveaway, as green is the color for mental health.

Sun Devil Outlook
Arizona State (5-4, 1-1 Big 12)
  • At last week's meet at Iowa State, the Gym Devils set a new season-high event total across all events with a 49.250 on floor. 
  • White's 39.225 in the all-around won her first place, and junior Kimberly Smith's 39.175 secured second. Additionally, White scored a 9.925 on floor, a season high for her, and the highest floor score of any Gym Devil this season. 
  • Junior Kayla Lee, graduate Sarah Clark, and White tied on beam with a 9.875 to share the title. 
  • The Gym Devils have now scored at least a 49 on bars and beam in three consecutive meets. The team total has also improved in every meet so far. 
Opponent Outlook
Texas Woman's University (4-2)
  • The Pioneers competed at home last weekend against Air Force, scoring a 194.075 and taking first place in the meet.
  • Texas Woman's University qualified for the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships Finals last season and secured second place in the meet. 
  • Arizona State holds a 2-0 all-time record against Texas Woman's University, with the most recent meeting coming in 2019.
