TEMPE – Sun Devil Gymnastics has its first Big 12 road meet this Friday as the team heads to Iowa State, competing at 5:30 p.m. MST/6:30 p.m. CST on ESPN+.

This is the first time these two squads will compete against each other in conference play, although they already faced off once this season during the Wasatch Classic in Utah, which Arizona State won.

The meet will be live on ESPN+ at 5:30 p.m. MST/6:30 p.m. CST. There will also be live scoring. Updates will be provided on social media on X (@SunDevilGym) and Instagram (@sundevilgymnastics). 

Sun Devil Outlook
Arizona State (4-4, 0-1 Big 12)
  • In their first Big 12 meet, the Gym Devils came up short against in-state rivals, No. 21 Arizona. The squad's 195.725 was a season-high, and its 49.175 on bars was a season best as well.
  • Graduate Emily White competed all-around for the first time this season against the Wildcats and scored at least 9.825 in all events for a 39.400 total. She also scored a season-high 9.900 on beam. 
  • White has been consistent for the team, scoring at least a 9.825 in all but one routine so far this season across the four events. On beam, she hasn't scored below a 9.875.
  • Graduate Sarah Clark also performed well, scoring a season-high 9.925 on bars and 9.875 on beam. The 9.925 on bars is the highest individual score across all events for ASU so far this season.
  • Arizona State previously faced Iowa State at the Wasatch Classic. The Devils won the quad meet, while the Cyclones came in fourth. 
  • Head Coach Jay Santos is returning to familiar ground at the Hilton Coliseum as he was an assistant coach with Iowa State from 2006-10.
Opponent Outlook
Iowa State (3-5, 0-1 Big 12)
  • The Cyclones competed at home last weekend against Simpson College, scoring a 195.675 and taking first place in the meet. 
  • Iowa State finished last season with a 10-18 record, and went 2-2 against Big 12 opponents. The Cyclones qualified for NCAA Gymnastics Regionals, coming in fourth in their session. 
  • Arizona State holds a 5-3 record all-time record against Iowa State, with the most recent meeting coming during the Wasatch Classic on January 20.
