TEMPE – For the second year in a row, seniors Jada Mangahas and Emily White were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large Team, representing Sun Devil Gymnastics.
Mangahas is in the sports science and performance program, while White is studying biological sciences (biomedical science). They are the first Gym Devils to earn this honor multiple times. They are the fifth and sixth all-district honor the program has had while Jay Santos has been the head coach. The first was Anne Kuhm in 2019, who went on to be an academic All-American.
To be nominated for an all-district award, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First- and second-team academic All-America honorees will be announced in late December. The award was previously from CoSIDA, but the organization recently changed the name to College Sports Communicators. For the complete list of honorees, head to the CSC's release here.
In the all-around, Mangahas was a strong gymnast for the Gym Devils all season and will return for a fifth year in 2025. Her best all-around total was a 39.450 and she had seven scores of 9.9-plus and four event titles. She qualified for the NCAA Championships on bars as an individual after winning the bars title at the California Regional with a 9.900.
White was a strong and steady force for the team all season and will be back for a fifth year in 2025. On senior night, she earned three 9.950s on bars, beam, and floor and set a new career high all-around record with a 39.625, which is the 15th highest all-around record in program history. She led the team in event titles with seven and returned to the all-around in the last part of the year. She had 13 scores of 9.9 or better this season, six coming from floor, four on beam and one on bars. Once this season, she was the Pac-12 Coaches Choice of the Week.
