INDIANAPOLIS– Announced by the NCAA this evening before the start of day three's finals at the Men's NCAA Swim and Dive Championships, Arizona State's Tiago Behar was named a recipient of the Elite 90 award of men's swim and dive for 2023-24. This marks the second week in a row that a student-athlete from Sun Devil Swim and Dive has received the honor.

The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.

The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

The Lutry, Switzerland native, who is pursuing a degree in Computer Science, is the second swimmer in as many weeks for the Sun Devil swim and dive program to receive the honor.

Behar, along with Lindsay Looney last week, are the first two Sun Devils to receive the Elite 90 award since the 2017-18 school year.

In his junior year with the Sun Devils, Behar placed seventh in the 200 free at the Pac-12 Championships and was also among the top 20 in the 50 free as the Sun Devil men repeated as the Pac-12 champions. In 2022-23, Behar was named a member of the Pac-12 2023 Winter Academic Honor Roll.
