TEMPE, Ariz.- Nine swimmers will represent the Sun Devils this week at the NCAA Women's Swimming Championships (March 20-23), hosted by the University of Georgia at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

NCAA Championship Central
 
Representing the Sun Devils will be Lindsay Looney, Charli Brown, Deniz Ertan, Alexa Reyna, Zoe Summar, Ieva Maluka, Molly Batchelor, Erin Milligan and Emma Gehlert.
 
Looney will compete in three events for the Sun Devils, which will include the 200 free, 500 free and 200 fly. Ertan will race the 1650 free and the 500 free and Maluka will swim the 200 free and the 200 IM. Reyna will swim the 1650 free, Summar in the 200 breast, Batchelor in the 500 free and Brown in the 400 IM. Gehlert and Milligan will compete as relay swimmers for ASU.

HOW THEY GOT THERE
A lot of the qualifying times for the Sun Devil women competing at NCAA Championships happened recently at the Pac-12 Championships, which went on from February 28 through March 2. A few qualifying times additionally came from the midseason NC State Invite back in November.

Here's a breakdown of how each Sun Devil made it to Athens.

LOOKING BACK
Looney became a Pac-12 champion for the third time in her career, winning the 500 free with a time of 4:35.05. Two days later, she broke her school record in the 200 fly as she took second (1:52.14) and was named the Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year. Additionally, Looney was a part of the 800 free relay that took third.

Maluka had a third place in the 200 IM at the Pac-12 Championships, breaking her own school record with a time of 1:54.43. Maluka also reached the podium as a part of the 800 free relay and had five other top-10 finishes.

In their conference championship debuts as Sun Devils, Ertan (2nd/15:58.40) and Reyna (3rd/16:14.85) each had podium finishes in the 1650 free to cap off their time at the Pac-12 Championships. Ertan additionally picked up a fifth-place finish in the 500 free with Reyna taking 16th.

Summar had five top-15 finishes at the conference championships, highlighted by fourth place finishes in the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay and a ninth-place finish in the 200 IM. In the 200 breast, Summar had 10 top-four finishes across the season for the Sun Devils.

Batchelor had three top-10 finishes at the Pac-12 Championships with a ninth-place finish in the 500 free along with being a part of the 800 free relay that took third.

Brown finished in the top-10 in each event she swam at Pac-12s, including being a part of the 800 free relay with a podium finish. She additionally broke the school record in the 100 back with her opening split in the 400 medley relay.

Gehlert had three top-20 finishes at the conference championships, highlighted by a 10th-place finish in the 200 breast. She additionally won the 200 breast in dual meets against Arizona and GCU.

At Pac-12s, Milligan had seven top-12 finishes, including a sixth place finish in the 50 free. In dual meets this season, Milligan went 4-for-4 in her events in three meets.
