TEMPE– Arizona State lacrosse (3-3) fell to No. 11 University of Florida (3-2) 22-6 in Sunday's morning matchup at Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium. Despite a close first quarter, the Gators surged past ASU after outscoring the Sun Devils 17-3 in the final three quarters. 

Florida dominated offensively, outshooting ASU 37-22 and recording 16 draw controls to ASU's 11. In the first quarter the Sun Devils managed to get three goals on the board, two of which came off of free position shots. Lydia Oldknow accounted for two of the goals while Teagan Ng was the other goal scorer

The Gators took charge in the second quarter, putting six goals on the board in the first six minutes of the frame. Florida totaled nine goals in the quarter and had a 14-4 lead headed into the half. Flynn Murphy and Katie Vahle shared time in the net in the second. The lone goal for the Sun Devils came with 16 seconds left, and was Lydia Oldknow's third of the game for a first-half hat trick.  

Katie Haley netted a goal for ASU in the third quarter, but it again was all Florida after they put another four goals on the board and built their lead up to 18-5.

Mina Scott added to the scoresheet for ASU, and Sara Flobeck replaced Vahle at goalie with six minutes remaining. 

SUN DEVIL NOTABLES: 
  • Florida was the third straight ranked game for ASU, but the Sun Devils have not defeated a ranked opponent since May 5, 2022 in the 13-12 win over No. 16 USC. 
  • The nine goals in the second quarter scored by Florida were the most allowed in a single quarter by the Sun Devils this season
  • The 22 goals allowed to the Gators were the most allowed by ASU this season.
