SAN FRANCISCO - Sun Devil Women's Golf senior Ashley Menne was named Pac-12 Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday as part of their weekly awards.

Menne becomes the first Sun Devil to win the Pac-12 Golfer of the Week honor this year, which was created by the conference coaches prior to the start of the 2023 Spring season as an additional way to honor the outstanding golfers in the league. The Pac-12 features the top individual and team talent in the country, which makes this award for Menne even more impressive. This is the second career Golfer of the Week distinction for Menne and the third time that a Sun Devil has won the award since it was implemented last year.

"I am so proud of Ashley," Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye remarked. "She puts in so much hard work and deserves the recognition."

Sun Devil Women's Golf and Ashley Menne brought home some hardware from Hawaii. No. 16 Arizona State (-42/822) won the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational team championship while Ashley Menne claimed the individual title, both in record-breaking fashion. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye's team shattered the program record for 54-hole scoring vs. par by an incredible 17 strokes, eclipsing the previous mark of 25-under set back in 2022. This is the first time since 2021 that ASU has won back-to-back event titles as a team and only the third time since 2009. The Sun Devils won by a 25-stroke margin.

"Winning both as a team and individually this week in Hawaii has been a dream," Menne explained after the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational. "Happy to be able to see my game trending in the right direction especially after the injuries I have been battling these last few semesters. Excited to see where the rest of the semester takes us. Glad to be part of a historical week with this team."

Ashley Menne (-14/202) now has the best 54-hole score vs. par in the history of Sun Devil Women's Golf, breaking Brandie Burton's 35-year-old record. Menne is one of only 56 golfers in NCAA history to finish a 54-hole tournament at 14-under or better. It is the best score posted by a Pac-12 golfer this season. It is the seventh-best score in the history of the league, only trailing some of the best golfers in Pac-12 history (Rose Zhang, Rachel Heck, Sadie Englemann, Megha Ganne, etc.).

She was nearly flawless last week in Hawaii, recording 15 birdies plus one eagle compared to only three bogey. She had a stretch of 48 consecutive bogey-free holes. Menne is the first Sun Devil to win an individual title since Alessandra Fanali won the 2022 Silverado Showdown. ASU set a new event record at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational for scoring; Ashley Menne also broke the individual record. Her 64 (-8) in the second round was tied for the second-lowest score in program history. No one else in the field reached the 64 mark over the three days, with her teammate Beth Coulter the only one carding a 65 (-7). Menne's 64 matched Texas A&M's Sam Bennett (2022 John A. Burns Intercollegiate) for the course record, male or female.

ASU LOWEST 54-HOLE SCORES VS. PAR (INDIVIDUAL)
---> 202 (-14) Ashley Menne 2024 Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, par 72
210 (-12) Brandie Burton 1989 Bruin Desert Classic, par 74
205 (-11) Jimin Kang 2001 New Mexico St. Intercollegiate, par 72
205 (-11) Wendy Ward 1995 PING/ASU Invitational, par 72
---> 205 (-11) Patience Rhodes 2024 Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, par 72

It is Menne's first outright collegiate victory, as she had previously tied for the 2023 Match in the Desert title. She beat out a field of 95-golfers, including 16 of the Top-200 in the individual national rankings. It is Menne's 8th Top-5 and 23rd Top-20 finish of her career. Not only does the team continue to move up in the national rankings, Ashley Menne is making a climb on her own. She is currently ranked No. 42 in the nation by Clipp'd, making a 21 spot jump after her victory.

Prior to last season, only a Pac-12 Golfer of the Month was awarded. In the Coach Farr-Kaye era, Arizona State has had six individuals win Pac-12 Golfer of the Month. Highlighting that group is Alexandra Forsterling, who accomplished the feat twice in 2022, becoming the first Sun Devil to accomplish the feat multiple times in a season. Menne is part of an exclusive group, as previous winners of a Pac-12 in-season honor include All-Americans Linn Grant (March, 2020),  Olivia Mehaffey (April, 2019), Linnea Strom (April, 2016), and Monica Vaughn (February, 2016).

SET FOR AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR
Sun Devil Women's Golf standout Ashley Menne will represent Arizona State on an International stage at the Augusta National Women's Amateur (ANWA). The 2024 edition will once again give female amateur golfers the opportunity to play the iconic Augusta National Golf Course. This is the third consecutive year Menne has qualified for this prestigious event, doing so based on her standing in the United States amateur rankings.

The first 36 holes will be contested over two days on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., April 3 and 4, 2024. The entire field will then play Augusta National for an official practice round Friday, April 5. The final round will take place at Augusta National on Saturday, April 6 and will feature the competitors who made the cut.

HEATHER FARR AWARD
The 2024 Heather Farr Award was awarded to Ashley Menne and presented by Farr's sister, Missy Farr-Kaye. The award was named in honor of one of the most successful female student-athletes in school history. Farr passed away in November 1993 after a long, valiant fight against breast cancer. This award honors her legacy of what it means to be a great Sun Devil student-athlete.

"I'm deeply honored to stand before you tonight as the recipient of the Heather Farr award," Menne said. "This recognition holds immense significance not just for me, but for all of those who've supported and inspired me along this journey. Heather Farr's legacy as a tenacious competitor and a beacon of strength in the face of adversity continues to resonate deeply within the realms of sportsmanship and perseverance."
