SAN FRANCISCO - Sun Devil Men's Basketball junior guard Frankie Collins received recognition for his outstanding performance in 2023-24 as the Pac-12 Conference announced their postseason awards on Tuesday afternoon.

Collins was named to the Pac-12 Conference All-Defensive Team while also earning Honorable Mention Pac-12 All-Conference honors, as voted on by the league's head coaches. He becomes the first Sun Devil to land on the All-Defensive Team since Zylan Cheatham and Lu Dort represented two of the five selections in 2018-2019. For the seventh consecutive year, Head Coach Bobby Hurley had one of his players receive All-Conference distinction. Guard Desmond Cambridge Jr. was a Second Team All-Conference selection in 2022-2023.

Not only did Collins put together a season that made him worthy of consideration for Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, he was one of the best all-around players in the entire conference. He led the Maroon and Gold in scoring, assists, and steals while grabbing the second-most rebounds. Collins was extremely durable and reliable throughout the season. He was the only Sun Devil to start all 31 games and he reached double digit points in 28 of those. Collins already has 83 steals this season, the most by a Pac-12 player since Matisse Thybulle (Washington) had 126 during the 2018-19 season.

RECORD SETTER
Frankie Collins made history in the matchup with Washington in February. He finished the game with three steals, making him the single-season record holder at Arizona State for steals in a season. Collins broke Lafayette Lever's 42-year-old previous record of 76 steals set in 1982. He continues to add to his record, currently sitting at 83 total steals. He is 8 steals away from cracking the Top-10 in the Pac-12 Conference's single-season record book.

MOST SUN DEVIL STEALS IN A SEASON
83 – Frankie Collins, 2024
76 – Lafayette Lever, 1982
74 – Eddie House, 2000
74 – Lafayette Lever, 1981
73 – James Harden, 2008
73 – Marcell Capers, 1993

I'LL TAKE THAT
Through 31 games of the 2023-24 season, Frankie Collins has emerged as one of the best perimeter defenders in the nation. Collins has 83 steals, putting him sixth in the country in the category. He is currently sixth in the nation in steals per game, averaging 2.7 per contest. He matched a program-record with eight steals in the victory over UMass Lowell and has 16 3+-steal performance already this season. His 83 steals are 18 MORE than any other player in the Pac-12 (Kobe Johnson, USC - 65) and he has four games with 6+ steals. That would be the largest gap between first and second place Pac-12 individual steals leaders since 2018-19.

FRANKIE DOES IT ALL
Guard Frankie Collins has established himself as one of the top all-around players in the Pac-12 Conference. He is currently one of only two players in the nation (Shahada Wells, McNeese State) averaging at least 13.6 points (1st on team), 4.5 rebounds (2nd on team), 3.3 assists (1st on team), and 2.7 steals (1st on team). Collins is stuffing the stat sheet in a historic manner while playing only 32.3 minutes per game (18th in the conference). Collins has been extremely consistent, reaching double figures scoring in 28 of the 31 games this season.

PAC-12 TOURNAMENT
Arizona State will face No. 6 seed Utah as the No. 11 seed in the 2024 Pac-12 Conference Tournament, which will take place March 13-16 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The winner of the first round contest will take on No. 3 seed Colorado on Thursday, March 14 at 8:30 PM MST on FS1.
