Sun Devil Outlook
No. 18 Arizona State
- Last Friday, the Gym Devils took second place in a dual meet at then-No. 17 Oregon State, 197.400 to 196.625.
- ASU scored at least a 49.000 on all four events, making that six meets in a row doing so. The vault streak is up to 19 in a row with 49-plus, extending the program record. Additionally, the bars streak is up to 18 in a row, one away from the record of 19-straight.
- The senior class for the Gym Devils have been all across the lineups this season. The bars lineup has been entirely seniors and graduates. The majority of the other lineups have also been the seniors and graduates. Of the 26 total event titles, 21 are from the seniors and fifth years.
- Beam and vault are the top-ranked events for Arizona State, ranked No. 14 and No. 15, respectively. Both have scored over a 49.400 this season. On beam, the best is a 49.425, which was earned on February 2. On vault, they scored a 49.475 back in January, which is the highest event total of all four.
- The last time UCLA and ASU met in Tempe, the Sun Devils upset the Bruins and earned the first win over them since 2001.
No. 10 UCLA (6-9, 4-2 Pac-12)
- The Bruins are coming off of a win at Stanford, scoring over a 197 for the second-straight week. Their best score is a 198.075, which they earned in a win over Arizona.
- UCLA leads 35-17 in the all-time series against Arizona State, including a win last season.
- The Bruins' trip to Tempe is a homecoming of sorts for graduate student Chloe Lashbrooke and head coach Janelle McDonald. Lashbrooke is a Scottsdale native and Chaparral High School graduate who trained at Gold Medal Gymnastics. McDonald coached for eight years at Desert Lights Gymnastics and earned her degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Arizona State in 2011. In 2010, she interned with the ASU gymnastics program.
