COACH'S CORNER
Head coach Zeke Jones: "It's a big weekend, right? Oklahoma State is obviously a big leader in the sport, and it's an opportunity to go into a hostile environment. It's always good preparation for an NCAA tournament, a well-coached team, a hard-fighting team, so it'll be a good test for us.

"And then, Oregon State on Sunday. It's nice to bring a good team in here for an opportunity to get some matches that will be used toward seeding of the Pac-12 Championships, so two good tests [for us]."

RANDOM NOTE
No. 1 Penn State won its 51st consecutive dual match victory on Jan. 28, beating Maryland 42-6 to extend, good for the sixth-longest win streak in major college wrestling history. Since 2015, the Nittany Lions have posted an incredible 117-2 record in dual matches.

One of those two losses came at the hands of the Sun Devils on Nov. 22, 2019, in front of a record-breaking crowd of 8,522 that snapped Penn State's 60-match win streak.

LAST TIME OUT
The Sun Devils are most recently removed from a 21-20 nailbiter victory on the road against Pittsburgh (Jan. 21), in which they were propelled by big wins by Richard Figueroa, Jacori Teemer, Chance McLane, Kyle Parco and Cohlton Schultz.

The Sun Devils needed a statement road win and got just that at the Fitzgerald Field House.

McLane's upset win against #11 Holden Heller (Pittsburgh) earned him a spot in the national rankings, coming in at No. 33 in the 165 class, per FloWrestling.

Figueroa, who was sidelined with an injury for nearly a month, made his return to the Sun Devil lineup with authority. He aced his first two dual matches, dispatching both Jeremiah Reno (Little Rock) and Colton Camacho (Pittsburgh).

LEADING THE CHARGE
A three-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year and 1988 Sun Devil national champion, head coach Zeke Jones was hired to lead his alma mater in April 2014 and immediately turned the program into a national powerhouse while continuing the Sun Devils' tradition of success in the conference.

Jones is directly responsible for bringing five Pac-12 Championships to Tempe since his arrival - bringing ASU's total conference title count to 23. He developed a two-time national champion in Zahid Valencia, a 125 national runner-up in Brandon Courtney (2021) and in 2022, led heavyweight Cohlton Schultz to national runner-up honors. ASU has celebrated 29 All-America honors since Jones' hiring.

Jones is directly responsible for 32 individual Pac-12 titles, five NCAA top-10 finishes, four Pac-12 Most Outstanding Wrestlers, six Pac-12 Wrestlers of the Year, and three Pac-12 Freshmen/Newcomers of the year.
