TEMPE – In the 2024 season opener, No. 25 Sun Devil Women's Tennis (2-0) defeated both UC Davis (0-1) and UC San Diego (0-1) with a pair of 7-0 victories Saturday at Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe.

ASU opened their match against UC Davis by earning the doubles point with victories on courts two and three to take a 1-0 match lead.
In singles, No. 61 Giulia Morlet put the Sun Devils ahead 2-0 on court one, never conceding a point in her 6-0, 6-0 victory. Sophomore Chelsea Fontenel tallied the next point, winning on court two in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. On court six, Rachel Hanford clinched the fourth point for the Sun Devils in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. No. 68 Emilija Tverijonaite got her first regular season singles victory of her career in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Marianna Argyrokastriti picked up a straight sets victory and Patricija Spaka's 6-3, 3-6, (10-4) victory gave the Sun Devils the sweep.
In the second match of their doubleheader, ASU took the first doubles point against UC San Diego. In singles, Hanford took her match on court 4 by a quick 6-1, 6-0 just before Morlet continued her dominant day in another 6-0, 6-0 victory on court 1. Spaka followed suit with a 6-0, 6-0 victory on court 5. On court three, Tverijonaite continued the straight sets run with a 6-1, 6-1 win, and the streak was kept up by Argyrokastriti on court 2 in a 6-3, 6-0 dub. To close out the sweep of UC San Diego, Piestrzynska took the first set 7-5 and ended the next set 6-2.
