SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Sun Devil Lacrosse (4-10, 3-6 Pac-12) are back on the road for a weekend of non-conference play against San Diego State and UC Davis. Arizona State face San Diego State on Friday, April 21 at 7 p.m. MST broadcasted on the SDSUAztecLacrosse YouTube. The Sun Devils stay in San Diego for a neutral matchup with UC Davis on Sunday, April 23 at 12 p.m. MST. Live stats can be found on the schedule.

Last Time Out
The Sun Devils dropped both matchups in last weekend's slate. The 12-11 loss to Oregon featured goals by six different Sun Devils including a hat trick by freshman Teagan Ng. ASU held Oregon scoreless for 24:58 minutes, the longest the Sun Devils have held their opponent to no goals all season.

Sunday's matchup in Boulder featured five goals by Mina Scott, a single game career high. An additional hat trick by graduate captain Katie Brodsky combined their goals for eight of the 12. It was the tenth time ASU has met double digit threshold in 2023.

The Sun Devils are in a three game win streak over the Aztecs. It's been three years since playing UC Davis, the Maroon and Gold have won both of the previous games against the Aggies. 

Notables
  • Kaylon Buckner leads the Sun Devils in goals (29), points (37), free position goals (9), shots on goal (58) and free position shots (21).  Buckner is first in draw controls (66).  Scored points in 13/14 games, goals in 12/14 games as well.
  • Kaylon Buckner, Scott, Teagan Ng, Bella Gaspar, Colleen Ryan, Zoe Mazur and Gigi Gaspar have all played and started in the twelve games this season.
  • 18 different Sun Devils have scored this season with Buckner (29), Scott (28) and Ng (21) leading the pack.
  • Mina Scott leads the Sun Devils in goals scored during conference play 18. Just behind her is Kaylon Buckner (17), Katie Brodsky (14), Teagan Ng (12) with Berit Brookfield and Bella Ingrao each clocking in with 10.
  • Year of First Goals - Claire Beucher, Keeley Cleland, Jordyn Behar, Alexa Ford, Kaitlyn Skamas, Tate Stokesberry, Annie Haley, McKenna Riley, Teagan Ng, Lydia Oldknow, Greta Stahl, Anna Thornton and Berit Brookfield have all seen the back of the net for the first time as a Sun Devil.
  • Goalkeeper Katie Vahle leads the team in ground balls (21), ahead of Helen Park (20), Bucker (72), Gigi Gaspar (13) and Bella Gaspar (11).
  • Ng leads all freshmen in goals (21) and has 25 points on the season. Ng has scored in 11 of 14 games for the Sun Devils. 
  • Katie Brodsky and Lydia Oldknow are on an eight game point streak (vs. Oregon 3/24).
  • Scott broke her single season goal record against Colorado (4/16), she now has 26 on the season. Scott is on a five game goal streak (vs. Cal 4/2).
  • Katie Vahle saved 16 shots against Penn State (02/24/23) for her new career high in saves. She also achieved this feat against Colorado (4/16/23). Vahle reached 200 career saves against Oregon (3/24) where she had 14 saves.
  • Berit Brookfield is on a three game goal and point streak (vs. California  4/9).
  •  Buckner and Scott are on a five game point streak (vs. Cal 4/2).
  • Goalkeepers Flynn Murphy and Katie Vahle have both seen time in the net this season.
  • The Sun Devils have outscored their opponents in free position shots, 19-13.
  • ASU has a 94.3% clear percentage rate, which is good for second in the nation behind North Carolina. ASU opponents are having more trouble, with 90%. 
  • Out for the season due to injury - Maddie Riley, McKenna Riley and Lexi Guerin

OPPONENT OUTLOOK
San Diego State
The Aztecs (5-9) are on a three game losing streak, last playing on April 7 against Colorado. Senior Deanna Balsama leads the Aztecs in goals with 42, 28 more than any other of her teammates. San Diego State does not play in a conference, playing as an independent.


UC Davis
The Aggies (7-5) are coming off a two game skid after dropping matches to Cal and Oregon, two teams the Sun Devils have beat this year. UC Davis has three goal-scorers over 25 goals, as Grace Gebhardt, Alex Agnew, and Alannah Scott lead the way for the Aggies. Gebhardt leads the team with 34. Agnew leads the team in points with 54, adding 26 assists to her 28 goals. UC Davis does not play in a conference, playing as an independent as well.
