TEMPE – It's a new era in Tempe! Arizona State women's lacrosse is set to open its sixth season in the NCAA on Saturday, and head coach Taryn Van Thof is ready for her head coaching debut. The Sun Devils will open their season at Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. against St. Bonaventure, marking just the third time in program history that ASU starts the year at home. The game will stream here for free on the ASU Live Stream. ASU is 5-0 all-time in home openers, outscoring opponents by a combined score of 94-42. This will be the first meeting between the two programs.
"I think in terms of preparation, the student-athletes are ready to put their best foot forward tomorrow night," coach Van Thof said. "We've worked really hard in the offseason and in preseason to be prepared for this moment and this team is super motivated to reach their goals."

After finishing second in the 2022 Pac-12 Tournament, the Sun Devils were selected fourth in the Pac-12 Preseason Coaches Poll and were receiving votes in the 2023 IL Women/IWLCA DI Preseason Poll. Last season the Sun Devils (11-8, 7-3) finished second in the Pac-12 and fell short of the NCAA tournament. Captains Katie Brodsky, Kaylon Buckner, Anna Winkeler and Bynn Holohan look to lead the young program to their first NCAA postseason berth.
A New Era in Sun Devil Lacrose
With 25 returners from last season and more than two dozen in their first season as a Sun Devil, we've put together a breakdown of the roster to prepare you for the spring.
Attackers
Aside from two of the four captains, the Sun Devil attackers bring experience as well as new depth to the rotation.
Katie Brodsky (Mercer Island, WA)
Returning for her fifth season, graduate student Katie Brodsky played in 16 games during both of the Sun Devils' last two seasons. Recording 46 points off of 21 goals and 25 assists during the 2022 season, Brodsky ranked third and fourth on the team in those categories. She tallied four goals in the victory over Colorado and had a season shooting percentage of 43.8%. During her junior season, Brodsky set a career high with 30 goals, 54 points, and a six-goal outing against California in the Pac-12 Lacrosse Tournament. She also handed out 24 assists along the way. Her goals, assists, and points all ranked third on the team in 2021. Her fast shot was incredibly accurate as over 50% of her shots found the back of the net.
Anna Winkeler (Allen, TX)
Senior attacker Anna Winkeler is hoping to pick up off where she left off after her freshman season in 2020. Starting in all six games she played in, the attacker's college debut saw her turn both shots against UC Davis into goals. She continued this trait, as all 15 of her shots were on target, with 11 getting past the goalkeeper. Against Marquette, Winkeler recorded five shots, three goals, two assists, five points, one ground ball and one draw control, all season high's for the freshman. After suffering an injury during her freshman season, Winkeler missed the 2021 campaign and only appeared in one game for the Sun Devils in 2022. She will look to have a greater impact on the field this season.
Mina Scott (Kennett Square, PA)
After a freshman season that saw her score a goal on her only shot, Mina Scott found the back of the net 14 times last year, and added three assists to bring her point total to 17 for her sophomore season. She also recorded four turnovers while appearing in all but one game for the Sun Devils last year. Scott was also a two-time varsity captain for Unionville High School and scored a goal in her school's first victory at the Pennsylvania District 3A State Championship in 2018. She earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors after a standout 2019 season, and represented the Philadelphia Region in the US Lacrosse National Tournament.
Anna Thornton (Bohemia, NY)
As a freshman, Anna Thornton appeared in 13 out of the Sun Devils' 19 games last season. In her first game as a Sun Devil, she scored two goals against SDSU. Thornton later tied her career-high point total of two while dishing out two assists against USC. She ended the season with four goals and two assists, and will look to add on to those numbers during her sophomore season.
McKenna Riley (Highlands Ranch, CO)
During her first season at ASU, McKenna Riley appeared in three games for the Sun Devils. The attacker has a strong lacrosse I.Q. which helps her sneak past defenders and will look to put this into use during her sophomore season. Riley and her twin sister both played on the 3D Lacrosse Club in Denver.
Tate Stokesberry (Wheaton, IL)
Tate Stokesberry appeared in four games for the Sun Devils during her freshman year. She tallied her only point with an assist against California (4/10), and tacked on a draw control in the same game. In her sophomore campaign, Stokesberry will likely have more opportunities to put her agility and quickness to good use. Stokesberry racked up 59 goals and 63 assists through 32 games at her high school's varsity level, putting up 100 points as a sophomore in 2019. Over two seasons, she collected 96 ground balls, caused 27 turnovers, and earned 93 draw controls.
Rosie Davis (Bowie, MD)
Rosie Davis has made four appearances for the Sun Devils over her first two seasons, and recorded an assist in her freshman year. Davis was a three-sport athlete at St. Mary's High School and was named MVP of her Indoor Track team while also taking home All-Conference honors.
Riley Forman (Doylestown, PA)
Riley Forman has appeared in three games collectively over her freshman and sophomore seasons, and scooped up a ground ball against California during her sophomore year. Forman served as captain at Central Bucks East High School for her junior and senior season and reached 200 high school goals after finishing with 79 in her junior season. She earned All-Conference Girls Lacrosse Team honors in 2018 and 2019 from The Intelligence and was a two-time First-Team SOL National Conference selection.
Greta Stahl (Somers Point, NJ)
A graduate transfer student from Northwestern University provides experience at the attacker position, playing in the NCAA Tournament in 2021. In 2022 she was an Academic All-Big Ten playing in 12 games, registering four goals, one assist and five points. She tied career-high scoring two goals and recorded an assist against Central Michigan.
At Harriton High School she was a 2017 US Lacrosse All American and three-time Under Armour All-American Philly team. She holds the school record for most points in a season.
Jenna Casole (Voorhees, NJ)
A redshirt freshman from Voorhees, NJ. She attended Cherry Hill West High School in Cherry Hill, New Jersey playing for four years and two years of soccer. She earned First Team All-Olympic Conference honors as a senior and was also the Team MVP and a captain. She was named a USA Lacrosse All-American and was First Team All-South Jersey. Casole was an All-Olympic Conference Second Team honors as a sophomore. In her senior season she tallied 91 goals, 57 assists, 109 draw controls, and 13 caused turnovers.
Kate Mayle (Redwood City, CA)
The freshman is an attacker who attended St. Ignatius High. The second member of the 2022 Signing Class is from Redwood City. She is excited to be a Sun Devil because of the culture and fans that have been building Sun Devil Athletics.
Jordyn Behar (Mineola, NY)
Behar comes to Tempe from New York, where she attended The Wheatley School. Behar is a multi-sport athlete, playing soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. She led Nassau County in total points as a freshman having 60 goals and 63 assists and is now ranked second on Long Island for total points. Behar received All Conference her freshman year. Behar's junior year was impressive as she led Long Island in the regular season, having 66 goals and 43 assists.
Lydia Oldknow (Ashburn, VA)
From Ashburn, VA where she attended Riverside High School. She was a multi-sport athlete who played field hockey and lacrosse which earned her Riverside High School Female Athlete of the Year as a senior. Oldknow received first team lacrosse all-state accolades her senior year and was also selected for the Washington Post All-Met Lacrosse team. She earned a roster spot on the USA Lacrosse School National School Girls DC Metro Team in 2021 and spent time playing club lacrosse for HHH and 3D Lacrosse.
Teagan Ng (Richmond, BC)
She is from British Columbia, where she attended R.A. McMath Secondary School. Ng played for team BC Lacrosse where current players Gigi and Bella Gaspar with Alexa Ford also played. She is a multi-sport athlete and a generational lacrosse player, being the fourth in her family. In 2019, she was awarded the U15 Provincial Championships Gold Medal as well as the Tournament MVP.
Midfielders
Arizona State has several midfielders that have gotten valuable experience over the past few seasons.
Kaylon Buckner (St. Louis, MO)
Kaylon Buckner started in all 19 games for the Sun Devils last season and was key in the circle. She ended the season with 48 draw controls and a career high of nine in the win against California. Those 48 ranked second on the team. She also recorded 25 points on the season, with 17 goals on 33 shots (51.5%).
Buckner broke the Missouri State high School record for most career goals, finishing with an astounding 379 goals. She added 122 assists and was a four-time All-State selection. She served as a captain each of her final three seasons. After a tremendous senior season, she was named a US Lacrosse All-American.
Brynn Holohan (Northbrook, IL)
Named a captain for the first time, Brynn Holohan has been selected to the Women's Sports Foundation and NBC Sports Student-Athlete Mentoring Program for the second consecutive year. The program sets an initiative designed to inspire and support women collegiate student-athletes in translating the valuable skills they have acquired on the field of play into successful careers. Holohan played in seven games for the Sun Devils as a junior, and tallied three goals, two caused turnovers, and a draw control over her career. Holohan was a two-time IHSA State Champion in 2016 and 2017 and was named to the US Lacrosse Illinois Women's National Team. She was also a 2019 All-State selection after an outstanding senior season.
Zoe Mazur (South Portland, ME)
After appearing in 12 games over her freshman and sophomore years and earning four draw controls, Zoe Mazur took advantage of her experience and started in 15 out of 18 games played during her junior season. She recorded a team high 81 draw controls, scored two goals on her only two shots, and added two assists for a career year in 2022.
In high school, Mazur was a terrific multi-sport athlete and earned MVP honors for both her lacrosse and hockey team. She was selected to the 2019 Varsity Maine All-State Team by The Portland Press Herald. On top of her tremendous hockey career, Mazur scored 56 goals and dished out 16 assists in her breakout junior lacrosse season.
Berit Brookfield (Highlands Ranch, CO)
During her freshman season, Berit Brookfield got valuable time while appearing in 15 games for the Sun Devils and started in eight of them. She collected five ground balls, caused five turnovers, and tallied a draw control against Stanford. Brookfield was a three-sport athlete in high school, playing for Mountain Vista's basketball, soccer, and lacrosse teams.
Bella Ingrao (Annapolis, MD)
A dominant lefty, Bella Ingrao appeared in 10 games as a freshman and was fifth on the team with 23 draw controls. She collected 21 of those during a three-game stretch against USC, California, and USC again. Ingrao also scored a goal against SDSU and caused two turnovers on the season. Ingrao played for Severn School and the East Coast Lacrosse Club during her high school years.
Helen Park (Edmond, OK)
Helen Park appeared in seven games during her first season in Tempe and collected one ground ball against Stanford. Park was a captain of the Korean National Team at the 2019 U19 Women's Lacrosse World Championships in Peterborough, Ontario and was the team's top scorer and the second-leading scorer overall at the event. She was named to the 2020 All-Southwest Team and was also a three-sport star in high school.
Annie Haley (Park Ridge, IL)
Annie Haley has appeared in three games for the Sun Devils against SDSU, California, and Colorado, and will look to add onto this during her sophomore season. Haley played on varsity all four years at Maine South High School, and compiled 119 goals and 54 assists in 39 games.
Lexi Guerin (Wayzata, MN)
During her first season with ASU, Lexi Guerin appeared in one game and recorded a draw against California. A draw specialist for Pittsburgh Premier Lacrosse Club, Guerin played varsity lacrosse and soccer during her prep career.
Cate Duhig (Elmhurst, IL)
Over her first two seasons, Cate Duhig has appeared in three games and recorded a draw against SDSU last year. Duhig received All-Conference distinction her first three years on York High School's varsity team. She was a 2019 IHSWLA First Team All-State selection after an outstanding junior season in which she scored 63 goals in only 18 games.
Alexa Ford (Maple Ridge, BC)
Alexa Ford appeared against California in her freshman season. Ford played with Team BC Lacrosse alongside current Sun Devil Lacrosse sophomore's Bella and Gigi Gaspar.
Maddie Riley (Highlands Ranch, CO)
Maddie Riley appeared in four games for the Sun Devils during her first season. Riley and her twin sister both played on the 3D Lacrosse Club in Denver.
Claire Beucher (Germantown, MD)
She is from Maryland, where she attended Our Lady of Good Counsel. . Beucher played well to start possessions, winning 31 draw controls. She was a force on defense and created 32 caused turnovers and collected 49 ground balls. While only playing 18 games, Beucher became a threat to other teams by having 26 goals and 17 assists. She was selected to compete in the Under Armour150 as well as the US Lacrosse National Tournament DC Metro Team 1 in 2021. She is a member of the National Honor Society as well as being an AP Scholar. She is also a member of the National Merit Commended Scholar.
Cassidy Doffermyre (Charlotte, NC)
She is from North Carolina, where she attended Providence Day School. Doffermyre is a multi-sport athlete competing and awarded in three. In indoor track and field where she won the state championship two times, was on the swim team when they won the state championship and lacrosse where she was announced MVP of her team in 2021.
Doffermyre became the highest scorer of her team when she scored 93 goals within 21 games. She used her determination and fighting spirit and collected 54 draw controls and 71 ground balls. Doffermyre became All-Conference First team in 2019 and 2021 while being named All State First Team in 2021. She is a member of the National Honor Society.
Keeley Cleland (Jacksonville, FL)
She is from Florida, where she attended Episcopal School of Jacksonville, where she wasan all-around player. She was a stud in the midfield where she was titled Episcapol Varsity Midfielder of the Year in 2020 and 2021. During her junior year she was strong on both sides of the ball scoring 39 goals and creating 24 caused turnovers. Cleland provided support on the draw circle where she collected 66 draw controls. She also used her willingness and aggressiveness to fight for the ball by collecting 90 ground balls. Cleland's athleticism and skill earned her a spot on the US National Team Development Program and was a US Lacrosse All-American in 2021.
Defenders
The Sun Devils are happy to return their highly-touted duo of twins to the defense this season. Alongside the Gaspars will be fresh faces that are looking to make a name for themselves in Maroon and Gold.
Bella Gaspar (Burnaby, BC)
Bella Gaspar has started in all 35 games for the Sun Devils during her first two seasons. In 2021, Gaspar was the only freshman in the Pac-12 to be named to the Pac-12 First Team All-Conference team. Her stout defense led her to collecting 43 ground balls and causing 17 turnovers. Gaspar followed this season up with a second straight selection to the Pac-12 First Team All-Conference team after collecting 41 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers, as well as two draw controls. After the Sun Devils graduated several starters after this past season, Gaspar is one of the biggest bright spots returning to the team.
Gigi Gaspar (Burnaby, BC)
Gigi Gaspar has started in every game she has appeared in over the past two seasons, and looks to continue this going into her junior season. She ended her freshman campaign with 16 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers, and went on to scoop up 20 ground balls, create eight caused turnovers, and earn five draw controls in her second season.
Maddelena Signorile (Nesconset, NY)
Returning for her sophomore season, Maddelena Signorile recorded a ground ball and one caused turnover during her three appearances last year.
Kaitlyn Skamas (Franklin Lakes, NJ)
Kaitlyn Skamas appeared in two games for the Sun Devils in 2021, and is looking to return to the field this season. Skamas earned four varsity letters at Ramapo High School, and was a two-time Brine NLC Metro NY Girls Lacrosse All-American in 2017 and 2018.
Grace Lilla (Stillwater, MN)
After experiencing valuable practice time during her freshman year, Grace Lilla appeared in three games as a sophomore last season. Lilla contributed in all phases of the game, scoring 20 goals, handing out 11 assists, collecting 37 ground balls, and earning 50 draw controls in her high school career. She was a 2017 and 2018 All-Suburban East Conference Honorable Mention and a 2019 All-State Third Team selection.
Colleen Ryan (Cortlandt Manor, NY)
She is from New York, where she attended Hendrick Hudson High School. In 2020 she earned a spot on the GAIT Top 20 Showcase All-Star Team. Ryan is on the 2022 Under Armour All-American Lacrosse Senior Watchlist. She is a multi-sport athlete, competing in Basketball, Tennis, and Lacrosse. She was in the National Honor Society and the New York State Mathematics Honor Society in 2021. She received High Honor Roll from 2018-2021 and was in the New York State Hispanic Honor Society in 2020.
Angelina Longo (Northport, NY)
A defensive freshman from New York who attended Northport. She is excited about the atmosphere being a Sun Devil holds as well as the great athletics and academics.
Sonny Lionetti (Point Lookout, NY)
Another defensive freshman from New York, Lionetti attended Sacred Heart Academy. She is excited to be a Sun Devil because of the school spirit, the amazing athletics and fans.
Goalies
Arizona State is excited for the sophomore season of its standout goalkeeper Katie Vahle, who earned the starting role after four-year starter Berkeley Bonneau graduated.
Katie Vahle (Manorville, NY) - Goalkeeper
Coming off of a freshman campaign that saw her take Pac-12 Defender of the Week four times, Katie Vahle is set to be a vital piece of the Sun Devil's defense this year. Vahle started in all 19 games for the Sun Devils last season, and had a save percentage of 40.9% with 152 saves. She led the team with 52 ground balls and had a career high of nine in the win against No. 14 Rutgers. Coming out of high school she was highly-touted for her athleticism and instincts, and she proved those qualities as she stepped into the big shoes left by Berkeley Bonneau.
Lindsey Spies (Pasadena, MD) - Goalkeeper
Lindsey Spies has appeared in seven games for the Sun Devils in her three seasons in Tempe, and earned a start against San Diego State in 2021, where she recorded a career high nine saves. Spies was a three-year member of the Chesapeake High School Varsity team that made it to the 3A Regional Final in the 2018 MPSSAA Girls Lacrosse State Championship during her junior season.
Flynn Murphy (Matthews, NC) - Goalkeeper
Flynn Murphy appeared in 10 games over the past two seasons and recorded 13 saves last season with a save percentage of 36.1%. Murphy left high school holding the record for wins, saves, saves percentage, fewest goals against, and points per game. She was the recipient of the first two Great Charlotte Goalie of the Year Awards in 2018 and 2019, and a First Team All-Conference selection each of her first three seasons on the varsity team.

She earned a roster spot on the USA Lacrosse School National School Girls DC Metro Team in 2021 and spent time playing club lacrosse for HHH and 3D Lacrosse.
Teagan Ng (Richmond, BC)
She is from British Columbia, where she attended R.A. McMath Secondary School. Ng played for team BC Lacrosse where current players Gigi and Bella Gaspar with Alexa Ford also played. She is a multi-sport athlete and a generational lacrosse player, being the fourth in her family. In 2019, she was awarded the U15 Provincial Championships Gold Medal as well as the Tournament MVP.
Midfielders
Arizona State has several midfielders that have gotten valuable experience over the past few seasons.
Kaylon Buckner (St. Louis, MO)
Kaylon Buckner started in all 19 games for the Sun Devils last season and was key in the circle. She ended the season with 48 draw controls and a career high of nine in the win against California. Those 48 ranked second on the team. She also recorded 25 points on the season, with 17 goals on 33 shots (51.5%).
Buckner broke the Missouri State high School record for most career goals, finishing with an astounding 379 goals. She added 122 assists and was a four-time All-State selection. She served as a captain each of her final three seasons. After a tremendous senior season, she was named a US Lacrosse All-American.
Brynn Holohan (Northbrook, IL)
Named a captain for the first time, Brynn Holohan has been selected to the Women's Sports Foundation and NBC Sports Student-Athlete Mentoring Program for the second consecutive year. The program sets an initiative designed to inspire and support women collegiate student-athletes in translating the valuable skills they have acquired on the field of play into successful careers. Holohan played in seven games for the Sun Devils as a junior, and tallied three goals, two caused turnovers, and a draw control over her career. Holohan was a two-time IHSA State Champion in 2016 and 2017 and was named to the US Lacrosse Illinois Women's National Team. She was also a 2019 All-State selection after an outstanding senior season.
Zoe Mazur (South Portland, ME)
After appearing in 12 games over her freshman and sophomore years and earning four draw controls, Zoe Mazur took advantage of her experience and started in 15 out of 18 games played during her junior season. She recorded a team high 81 draw controls, scored two goals on her only two shots, and added two assists for a career year in 2022.
In high school, Mazur was a terrific multi-sport athlete and earned MVP honors for both her lacrosse and hockey team. She was selected to the 2019 Varsity Maine All-State Team by The Portland Press Herald. On top of her tremendous hockey career, Mazur scored 56 goals and dished out 16 assists in her breakout junior lacrosse season.
Berit Brookfield (Highlands Ranch, CO)
During her freshman season, Berit Brookfield got valuable time while appearing in 15 games for the Sun Devils and started in eight of them. She collected five ground balls, caused five turnovers, and tallied a draw control against Stanford. Brookfield was a three-sport athlete in high school, playing for Mountain Vista's basketball, soccer, and lacrosse teams.
Bella Ingrao (Annapolis, MD)
A dominant lefty, Bella Ingrao appeared in 10 games as a freshman and was fifth on the team with 23 draw controls. She collected 21 of those during a three-game stretch against USC, California, and USC again. Ingrao also scored a goal against SDSU and caused two turnovers on the season. Ingrao played for Severn School and the East Coast Lacrosse Club during her high school years.
Helen Park (Edmond, OK)
Helen Park appeared in seven games during her first season in Tempe and collected one ground ball against Stanford. Park was a captain of the Korean National Team at the 2019 U19 Women's Lacrosse World Championships in Peterborough, Ontario and was the team's top scorer and the second-leading scorer overall at the event. She was named to the 2020 All-Southwest Team and was also a three-sport star in high school.
Annie Haley (Park Ridge, IL)
Annie Haley has appeared in three games for the Sun Devils against SDSU, California, and Colorado, and will look to add onto this during her sophomore season. Haley played on varsity all four years at Maine South High School, and compiled 119 goals and 54 assists in 39 games.
Lexi Guerin (Wayzata, MN)
During her first season with ASU, Lexi Guerin appeared in one game and recorded a draw against California. A draw specialist for Pittsburgh Premier Lacrosse Club, Guerin played varsity lacrosse and soccer during her prep career.
Cate Duhig (Elmhurst, IL)
Over her first two seasons, Cate Duhig has appeared in three games and recorded a draw against SDSU last year. Duhig received All-Conference distinction her first three years on York High School's varsity team. She was a 2019 IHSWLA First Team All-State selection after an outstanding junior season in which she scored 63 goals in only 18 games.
Alexa Ford (Maple Ridge, BC)
Alexa Ford appeared against California in her freshman season. Ford played with Team BC Lacrosse alongside current Sun Devil Lacrosse sophomore's Bella and Gigi Gaspar.
Maddie Riley (Highlands Ranch, CO)
Maddie Riley appeared in four games for the Sun Devils during her first season. Riley and her twin sister both played on the 3D Lacrosse Club in Denver.
Claire Beucher (Germantown, MD)
She is from Maryland, where she attended Our Lady of Good Counsel. . Beucher played well to start possessions, winning 31 draw controls. She was a force on defense and created 32 caused turnovers and collected 49 ground balls. While only playing 18 games, Beucher became a threat to other teams by having 26 goals and 17 assists. She was selected to compete in the Under Armour150 as well as the US Lacrosse National Tournament DC Metro Team 1 in 2021. She is a member of the National Honor Society as well as being an AP Scholar. She is also a member of the National Merit Commended Scholar.
Cassidy Doffermyre (Charlotte, NC)
She is from North Carolina, where she attended Providence Day School. Doffermyre is a multi-sport athlete competing and awarded in three. In indoor track and field where she won the state championship two times, was on the swim team when they won the state championship and lacrosse where she was announced MVP of her team in 2021.
Doffermyre became the highest scorer of her team when she scored 93 goals within 21 games. She used her determination and fighting spirit and collected 54 draw controls and 71 ground balls. Doffermyre became All-Conference First team in 2019 and 2021 while being named All State First Team in 2021. She is a member of the National Honor Society.
Keeley Cleland (Jacksonville, FL)
She is from Florida, where she attended Episcopal School of Jacksonville, where she wasan all-around player. She was a stud in the midfield where she was titled Episcapol Varsity Midfielder of the Year in 2020 and 2021. During her junior year she was strong on both sides of the ball scoring 39 goals and creating 24 caused turnovers. Cleland provided support on the draw circle where she collected 66 draw controls. She also used her willingness and aggressiveness to fight for the ball by collecting 90 ground balls. Cleland's athleticism and skill earned her a spot on the US National Team Development Program and was a US Lacrosse All-American in 2021.
Defenders
The Sun Devils are happy to return their highly-touted duo of twins to the defense this season. Alongside the Gaspars will be fresh faces that are looking to make a name for themselves in Maroon and Gold.
Bella Gaspar (Burnaby, BC)
Bella Gaspar has started in all 35 games for the Sun Devils during her first two seasons. In 2021, Gaspar was the only freshman in the Pac-12 to be named to the Pac-12 First Team All-Conference team. Her stout defense led her to collecting 43 ground balls and causing 17 turnovers. Gaspar followed this season up with a second straight selection to the Pac-12 First Team All-Conference team after collecting 41 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers, as well as two draw controls. After the Sun Devils graduated several starters after this past season, Gaspar is one of the biggest bright spots returning to the team.
Gigi Gaspar (Burnaby, BC)
Gigi Gaspar has started in every game she has appeared in over the past two seasons, and looks to continue this going into her junior season. She ended her freshman campaign with 16 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers, and went on to scoop up 20 ground balls, create eight caused turnovers, and earn five draw controls in her second season.
Maddelena Signorile (Nesconset, NY)
Returning for her sophomore season, Maddelena Signorile recorded a ground ball and one caused turnover during her three appearances last year.
Kaitlyn Skamas (Franklin Lakes, NJ)
Kaitlyn Skamas appeared in two games for the Sun Devils in 2021, and is looking to return to the field this season. Skamas earned four varsity letters at Ramapo High School, and was a two-time Brine NLC Metro NY Girls Lacrosse All-American in 2017 and 2018.
Grace Lilla (Stillwater, MN)
After experiencing valuable practice time during her freshman year, Grace Lilla appeared in three games as a sophomore last season. Lilla contributed in all phases of the game, scoring 20 goals, handing out 11 assists, collecting 37 ground balls, and earning 50 draw controls in her high school career. She was a 2017 and 2018 All-Suburban East Conference Honorable Mention and a 2019 All-State Third Team selection.
Colleen Ryan (Cortlandt Manor, NY)
She is from New York, where she attended Hendrick Hudson High School. In 2020 she earned a spot on the GAIT Top 20 Showcase All-Star Team. Ryan is on the 2022 Under Armour All-American Lacrosse Senior Watchlist. She is a multi-sport athlete, competing in Basketball, Tennis, and Lacrosse. She was in the National Honor Society and the New York State Mathematics Honor Society in 2021. She received High Honor Roll from 2018-2021 and was in the New York State Hispanic Honor Society in 2020.
Angelina Longo (Northport, NY)
A defensive freshman from New York who attended Northport. She is excited about the atmosphere being a Sun Devil holds as well as the great athletics and academics.
Sonny Lionetti (Point Lookout, NY)
Another defensive freshman from New York, Lionetti attended Sacred Heart Academy. She is excited to be a Sun Devil because of the school spirit, the amazing athletics and fans.
Goalies
Arizona State is excited for the sophomore season of its standout goalkeeper Katie Vahle, who earned the starting role after four-year starter Berkeley Bonneau graduated.
Katie Vahle (Manorville, NY) - Goalkeeper
Coming off of a freshman campaign that saw her take Pac-12 Defender of the Week four times, Katie Vahle is set to be a vital piece of the Sun Devil's defense this year. Vahle started in all 19 games for the Sun Devils last season, and had a save percentage of 40.9% with 152 saves. She led the team with 52 ground balls and had a career high of nine in the win against No. 14 Rutgers. Coming out of high school she was highly-touted for her athleticism and instincts, and she proved those qualities as she stepped into the big shoes left by Berkeley Bonneau.
Lindsey Spies (Pasadena, MD) - Goalkeeper
Lindsey Spies has appeared in seven games for the Sun Devils in her three seasons in Tempe, and earned a start against San Diego State in 2021, where she recorded a career high nine saves. Spies was a three-year member of the Chesapeake High School Varsity team that made it to the 3A Regional Final in the 2018 MPSSAA Girls Lacrosse State Championship during her junior season.
Flynn Murphy (Matthews, NC) - Goalkeeper
Flynn Murphy appeared in 10 games over the past two seasons and recorded 13 saves last season with a save percentage of 36.1%. Murphy left high school holding the record for wins, saves, saves percentage, fewest goals against, and points per game. She was the recipient of the first two Great Charlotte Goalie of the Year Awards in 2018 and 2019, and a First Team All-Conference selection each of her first three seasons on the varsity team.
