SANTIAGO, Chile--  The competition on the world stage continues for Sun Devil swimmers and the pros as five competed at the 2023 Pan American Games the past five days in Chile.

Sophomore swimmer Jonny Kulow, who was named to the US National Team for 2023-24, won six medals in his time competing at the Pan American Games with pro Paige Madden earning four medals.

Kulow, who was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year last season, took the gold as a part of the 4x100m mixed medley relay that set a Pan American record with a time of 3:44.71 and won the gold as a part of the 400m medley relay. Kulow additionally earned silver medals in the 100m free and 50m free and as a part of the 4x100m free relay and the 4x100m mixed free relay.

Jade Foelske
Representing Ecuador, Foelske competed in the 100m fly finishing with a time of 1:02.19 as well as the 200m fly where she had a time of 2:16.77. On the final day of competition on Wednesday, she competed in the 200m IM finishing with a time of 2:21.92. 

Foelske, a senior for the Sun Devil women, had a top-10 finish in the 200yd fly at the Pac-12 Championships in February. She most recently competed for the Sun Devils back on Oct. 6 in the win over UNLV where she took third in the 100 fly.

Jarod Arroyo
Arroyo, who swam for the Sun Devils the past two seasons and is taking an Olympic gap year, competed in the 400m IM swimming a 4:28.42 representing Puerto Rico.

Prior to arriving at ASU, Arroyo competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo where he participated in the 200 IM and 400 IM. 

Jay Litherland
Pro Jay Litherland, a silver medalist in the 400m IM at the 2020 Summer Olympics, competed in the 400m free where he was fourth and won the 400m IM. 

Litherland, along with Madden, was named one of the team captains for Team USA during their time at the Pan American Games.

Paige Madden
Madden, who took silver as a part of the 4x200m free relay in Tokyo, won the 400m free, 800m free and 4x200m free relay while taking the silver in the mixed 4x100 free relay. Her time of 4:06.45 in the 400m free set a Pan American record.
