TEMPE - Sun Devil Women's Golf will be in familiar territory when they participate in the 2023 Stanford Intercollegiate running Oct. 20-22.

Arizona State will compete at Stanford Golf Course for the seventh time in the past eight seasons, with Missy Farr-Kaye's squad becoming a regular in this event. They are looking to capture the program's seventh Stanford Intercollegiate team title. This represents another significant opportunity for the Sun Devils to test themselves against top competition, as 12 of Golfweek's Top-25 teams are in the field. It is also the final tournament of the Fall season.

COACH'S CORNER
"We are excited to head back to the Stanford Intercollegiate," Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye mentioned. "The team has been working hard on improving daily and I believe the break was a benefit. They are extremely focused on securing a high finish this weekend."

THE COMPETITION (GOLFWEEK RANKINGS)
Arizona State was ranked 24th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Team Rankings. They will be one of 12 Top-25 teams competing at the Stanford Intercollegiate. 17 of the Top-50 teams in the nation will be competing in one of the toughest fields of the Fall campaign.

THE FORMAT
Arizona State returns to the normal tournament format, competing in 18 holes each day. The first round will take place on Friday, Oct. 20, followed by the second round on Saturday the 21st. An individual and team champion will be crowned following the conclusion of the final round on Sunday afternoon. Tees times will be staggered throughout the morning from 8:25-9:09 AM AZT on the tenth hole.

THE LINEUP
Arizona State boasts one of the deepest and most talented rosters in the country, making qualifying for the lineup extremely difficult. The five Sun Devils that are traveling to Stanford had to earn their positioning. Ashley Menne has the most experience at the Stanford Golf Course and will be the No. 1 golfer this weekend. Coming off a strong performance at the Windy City Collegiate, Patience Rhodes is the No. 2 for ASU. Paula Schulz-Hanssen will go third, while Calynne Rosholt is back in the lineup as the No. 4. An indication of the strength of Arizona State's lineup, First Team Pac-12 All-Conference selection Grace Summerhays occupies the final qualifying spot for the lineup.

THE COURSE
The Stanford Golf Course, located in the foothills above the Stanford University campus, is home to the Stanford Men's and Women's Golf teams. The Par 71, 6,269-yard course has hosted several significant events, including the Stanford Invitational, Peg Barnard Intercollegiate, Pac-10/12 Championships, NCAA Western Regional, and the Women's NCAA Championships, USGA Junior Amateur Qualifying, and U.S. Open Qualifying. The tournament is hosted by former U.S. Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice, an avid golfer and Stanford Graduate School of Business faculty member. Four of the six Sun Devils have competed in at least one collegiate event at the Stanford Golf Course, either at the 2021 Pac-12 Championship or 2021/2022 Stanford Intercollegiate.

HISTORY AT STANFORD INTERCOLLEGIATE
The Sun Devils will be making their 11th appearance at the Stanford Intercollegiate, first competing at the event in 1980. This is the seventh time in the last eight editions that Arizona State will be a part of the field. ASU has enjoyed its fair share of success at Stanford, winning the team title six times, most recently in 2019. Arizona State (-10/842) earned its ninth title in the Missy Farr-Kaye era, putting together their eighth-lowest score vs. par over 54 holes in school history.

The Sun Devils were also victorious at the 2009, 2007, 2004, 1995, and 1982 Stanford Intercollegiate. A pair of Sun Devil legends earned individual titles at the Stanford Intercollegiate, as Heather Bowie took home the individual crown in 1995 while Brandie Burton was the champion of the 1989 event.

LAST TIME OUT
Sun Devil Women's Golf wrapped up the Windy City Collegiate Classic on Oct. 3. Arizona State continued their ascent up the leaderboard, climbing an additional two spots thanks to a solid final round. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye's group shot a 288 (E) on the last day to move into a tie for 10th. The only teams to finish ahead of the Maroon & Gold other than host Northwestern entered the event in the Golfweek Top-30. Ashley Menne and Patience Rhodes led the way individually, each solidifying Top-20 finishes after carding a 70 (-2) in round three.
