FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Sun Devil Volleyball continued their perfect record Friday night, sweeping Boise State in three sets (25-20, 26-24, 25-17) to remain undefeated on the season and at the Lumberjack Classic. 

Notable Stats
  • Arizona State moved to 8-0 after its fifth sweep of the season. This is tied for the fifth-best start in program history, tied with 1981 and 1992.
  • ASU is one of two undefeated teams in the Pac-12, the other being Cal.
  • Junior outside hitter Geli Cyr had a match-high 15 kills in the win, one off of her career high. She also added four digs, an ace and a block.
  • Senior opposite Marta Levinska notched 11 kills, her 20th-straight match in double figures (dating back to last season). She is now three kills away from 14th place in the ASU record book for career kills, upping her total to 1,122.
  • Pacing the offense, fifth-year senior setter Shannon Shields collected 33 assists. She added seven digs, two blocks and two kills.
  • On defense, graduate libero Mary Shroll had 16 digs to lead all players. Additionally, she had four assists and two aces.
  • Senior middle blocker Claire Jeter was back in the lineup today and had a match-high five blocks. She also had four kills.

Set One: ASU 25, BSU 20
The Sun Devils and Broncos got off to a hot start, battling back and forth up until the Sun Devils went on a 6-0 streak to put them up 13-7 with the help of Levinska and Cyr. Boise State responded with two more, but ASU kept its momentum going and kept padding their lead. The Broncos got within one, and eventually tied it at 17 apiece. The Sun Devils felt the pressure and went on a 3-0 run to give them the lead once again. After a close one at the end, Levinska locked it in for the team with a kill to take the set 25-20. 

Set Two: ASU 26, BSU 24
Boise State got off to a 9-1 start, but the Sun Devils slowly started to make their way back into the game, adding two of their own to make it 9-3. ASU played catch up for a while and made it within three to make the score 12-9 after a kill from Levinska. Shields eventually led the Sun Devils to their first tie of the set with a setter dump. Cyr's kill then helped Arizona State take their first lead of the game to put them up 21-20. Both teams remained resilient toward the end, but ASU took the set 26-24 thanks to an error by the Broncos.

Set Three: ASU 25, BSU 17
Arizona State kept their momentum going to start off the third set by opening the scoring. After a couple back-and-forths, ASU was able to go on a 5-0 stretch to take an 8-3 lead. Boise State tried to climb their way back into the score, but the Sun Devils would respond every time. Arizona State started taking off and took an 18-8 lead after a 4-1 run. The Broncos found some openings on the court to get some points on their side of the scoreboard, but were never able to catch up. ASU took the set 25-17 to cap off the sweep. 

Up Next 
The Lumberjack Classic will end on Saturday as ASU will wrap up the weekend against Stephen F. Austin at 11 a.m. MST. There will be live stats and radio via SFA.
