RALEIGH, N.C. - The 2022-23 Sun Devil Women's Golf season has come to an end at the Raleigh Regional.
In need of a Top-5 finish after three days at the Raleigh Regional, Arizona State (+10/874) finished in seventh. Ashley Menne and Grace Summerhays each delivered Top-15 performances, but it wasn't enough to help the Maroon & Gold advance. The program's streak of five straight NCAA Championship appearances comes to an end.
Despite not competing in the event, the Sun Devil Women's Golf program will be front-and-center at the NCAA Championship, with Arizona State University serves as the host school for the third consecutive year. Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale will team up with The Thunderbirds to host the 2023 NCAA Women's Golf Championship May 19-24.
FIVE-YEAR RUN
Arizona State's run of five consecutive NCAA Championship appearances has been snapped. They were one of only five programs that could make this claim, joined in the exclusive club by Florida State, Stanford, Texas, and USC. The last time Sun Devil Women's Golf missed the NCAA Championship was 2016. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye's team immediately responded by winning the 2017 National Championship at Rich Harvest Farms in Illinois the following year.
TOP-30 TEAMS ELIMINATED
NCAA golf regional action annually is a time when several possible championship contenders don't make it through to NCAA Championships. The following note puts into perspective how difficult it is to advance to Grayhawk. Eight of the Top-30 Golfstat teams did not make the cut in 2023: #7 Auburn, #8 Oregon, #11 Arizona State, #19 UCF, #20 Iowa State, #21 Florida, #23 Ohio State, #29 Kentucky.
ROUND BREAKDOWN
Ashley Menne (E/216/T-11th)
Ashley Menne delivered a strong front nine, completing the first half of her round at one-under. Birdies on the fifth and seventh hole had her moving in the right direction early in the day. A clutch birdie on 17 fueled a late comeback attempt, with Menne ultimately finishing tied for 11th at the Raleigh Regional.

Grace Summerhays entered the day in the Top-5 and in the hunt for an individual regional title. She got off to a great start, recording a birdie on her first hole. The back nine began the exact same way, as she registered a birdie on the 10th hole. Summerhays secured her fourth Top-15 finish of the season at the Raleigh Regional.
TODAY'S ROUND: 77 (+5)
BIRDIES (2): 1st Hole (Par 5; 507 Yards), 10th Hole (Par 4; 369 Yards)
Paula Schulz-Hanssen (+3/219/T-24th)

Following a birdie on the 11th hole, Schulz-Hanssen moved to under par, a status she maintained through 13 holes. In her first NCAA Regional appearance, Schulz-Hanssen earned a Top-25 finish.
TODAY'S ROUND: 75 (+3)
BIRDIES (2): 1st Hole (Par 5; 507 Yards), 11th Hole (Par 5; 553 Yards)
Beth Coulter (+7/223/36th)
With the Sun Devils in need of birdies on the back nine, Beth Coulter was able to come through late. She birdied the 16th hole to increase her team's chances of making the Top-5. Ultimately, she finished 36th out of 60 golfers in her NCAA Regional debut.
TODAY'S ROUND: 77 (+5)
BIRDIES (1): 16th Hole (Par 4; 341 Yards)
Calynne Rosholt (+4/76/N/A)
For the first time in her tenure, Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye used a subsitution in the postseason, an indication of the trust she has in Calynne Rosholt. Rosholt replaced Amanda Linner for the final day of the Raleigh Regional. She found her groove towards the end of the round, finishing two-under over the final four holes. This included a pair of birdies, as she came through with a couple huge putts. As a result of birdies on 15 and 18, Rosholt became a counting score and shaved a stroke off the team total.

"It was a tough last 10 holes for the Sun Devils today," Coach Farr-Kaye reflected. "This was not the outcome we had been working for all year. I am really proud of this team and my coaches. I still believe we are the 10th best team in the country. Every year a few top teams get bumped at Regionals. This year it is our team. We are young and we will come back next fall ready for another great year!"
