KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Lindsay Looney became a Second-Team All-American on Thursday evening at the NCAA Championships, where she placed 13th overall in the 500 free at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.

She touched the wall at 4:40.72, placing fifth in the consolation final.

It's the second top-15 finish at the national championships for the Denison, Texas, native, who took 10th in the 200 fly a season ago.

Looney picked up four points in the process, helping the Sun Devils get on the scoreboard for the first time this week.

MORNING PRELIMS
All three Sun Devils competed on Thursday morning, as Lindsay Looney was the top Sun Devil from the Day 2 preliminary session, taking 16th in the 500 free to qualify for the evening final. She touched the wall at 4:40.81, just ahead of teammate Molly Batchelor (29th), who finished at 4:42.21.

Charli Brown competed in the 200 IM prelims, finishing at 1:57.98.

DAY 1 RECAP
The Sun Devils didn't race on Wednesday evening, which featured just the 200 medley relay and 800 free relay. The Virginia Women swept both races, setting a new NCAA, American and US Open record in the 200 medley relay (1:31.51).

After the first night in Knoxville, the Cavaliers stood alone atop the team standings.
