TEMPE – After three weeks at home, No. 21 Sun Devil Gymnastics has the first of two-straight road meets this weekend at No. 7 Cal on Saturday at 3 p.m. MST.

Sun Devil Outlook
No. 21 Arizona State (4-3, 1-1 Pac-12)
  • The Gym Devils are back on the road this week after three meets in a row at home. In February, ASU will be on the road for three of four meets. The first three meets in February are all against top-10 opponents.
  • Last week, the Sun Devils extended their winning streak against in-state rival Arizona to seven in a row, earning a season-high 196.800. The team had season highs on vault, beam and floor.
  • In the win over the Wildcats, Anaya Smith had a career-high 9.950 on vault, the highest score by any Gym Devil on any event this season. Her career-high was the best on vault by ASU since Ashley Hinkle on March 7, 2008.
  • With some ties, there were eight total event titles won over the weekend for Arizona State. This season, there are 15 total titles, led by junior Emily White's five. She has won a title on every event. 
  • Both White and senior Hannah Scharf have been solid presences in the all-around this season. Both have an all-around title to their name this year. Scharf won hers against the Wildcats. 
  • Prior to last Saturday's meet, the team had just three scores of 9.9 this season. That meet, the team had six scores of 9.9-plus.
Opponent Outlook
No. 7 Cal (8-0,  2-0 Pac-12)
  • Last weekend, Cal matched their season high with a 197.525 in a win over Stanford at home. 
  • In 2022, Cal and ASU were Pac-12 Regular Season Co-Champions, along with Oregon State and Utah. 
  • The last time the Bears and Sun Devils met head-to-head was last season in Tempe. Cal came into Desert Financial Arena undefeated and Arizona State came away with the upset, winning 197.050 to 196.850.
