Sun Devil Outlook
Arizona State (1-2, 0-0 Pac-12)
- The Gym Devils kick off their home campaign on Friday in the tri-meet, the first of three home meets this month. All five home meets will be held at Desert Financial Arena this season.
- In the opening meet last weekend at the Super 16, Arizona State placed third in the third session with a 195.775. That score is the second-highest season-opening score under head coach Jay Santos.
- Junior Emily White was a stand-out for the Sun Devils in Las Vegas. She took second in the all-around with a 39.400, scoring a 9.800 or better in each event. Her 9.900 on beam tied for second.
- Two other Gym Devils competed in the all-around last weekend: seniors Hannah Scharf (39.050) and Gracie Reeves (39.000). Scharf's best score came on floor where she anchored and notched a 9.900, which tied for third in this session. For Reeves, this was her first time in the all-around since 2021.
- Freshman Kayla Lee made her collegiate debut, competing on beam and floor. She was the first routine of the season as she led off on beam, hitting with a 9.775.
Eastern Michigan (0-0)

- In 2022, EMU went 5-12-1, finishing at No. 52 on Road to Nationals. Ella Chemotti qualified as an individual on beam for NCAA Regionals. She was also named the 2022 MAC Freshman of the Year.
- This will be the third meeting all-time between ASU and EMU. The Sun Devils are 2-0 against the Eagles. Gym Devil assistant coach Lacey Rubin was a gymnast at Eastern Michigan and graduated in 2018. ASU head coach Jay Santos used to coach the Eagles, leading the team to its first-ever NCAA Regionals appearance in 2016
- This will be the Aggies' second meet of the season after taking down Causeway rival Sacramento State last Sunday at home.
- UC Davis ended the 2022 season ranked No. 42 on Road to Nationals. Then-senior Kyla Kessle and current sophomores Keanna Abraham and Megan Ray competed at NCAA Regionals as individuals. Under head coach John Lavallee, UC Davis has had at least two representatives in the NCAA postseason every year since 2010.
- ASU leads 6-1 all-time against UC Davis in a series that dates back to 1979. The Sun Devils last faced the Aggies in the 2020 season in a dual meet where they won 195.250-187.225.
