Play better than Saturday. No reason can't be the best team of the day.
The Sun Devils did just that, matching Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Pepperdine for the best round of the day with a 3-under 277, 15 shots better than Saturday.
Heading to Monday's fourth and final round -- where the field will be cut to eight teams for match play -- the Sun Devils (290-292-277) are sixth at 19-over 859. They will tee with North Carolina and Pepperdine Monday.
"Yesterday we were pretty beat up when we finished the round," said Arizona State Head Coach Matt Thurmond. "Armen (Kirakossian) and I just felt like its not as bad as it feels right now. So that was our message and as the day went on, they saw other scores and realized it hard for other people to. We knew we had good rounds coming still."
