The Arizona State men's basketball team held Washington State to just .305 (18-of-59) from the field and 10-of-33 (.303) from the three-point stripe and used a 33-14 bench points advantage to top the Cougars 58-55 in Pullman late Saturday night.
But it also got some incredibly efficient offense late when it had to have it.
Washington State (14-9; 7-5) cut the ASU lead to two points at 41-39, 43-41, 45-43, 47-45, 51-49 and also 53-52 but each time the Sun Devils came back with a bucket. In the final 7:37, ASU made eight of its final 11 field goal attempts, with four players getting at least one bucket.
In a game that neither team led by more than eight, ASU (8-15; 4-9) got solid games from Jalen Graham (14 points) and reserves Marreon Jackson (14 points) and Luther Muhammad (12 points and eight rebounds) while shooting 14-of-25 (.560) from the field in the second half.
ASU next hosts Oregon Thursday (Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. with Dave Pasch and Bill Walton on the ESPN2 or ESPNU call.
