ATLANTA, Ga. – Arizona State Men's Golf will finish its 2022 fall slate with the East Lake Cup in Atlanta starting Monday. The tournament will be televised on the Golf Channel, with coverage from 3-6 p.m. EST.
THE LINEUP
ASU will send Preston Summerhays, Josele Ballester, Ryggs Johnston, Luke Potter and Michael Mjaaseth to Georgia.
THE FIELD
ASU is joined by the reigning National Champions in Texas along with Pepperdine and Vanderbilt.
MATCH PLAY
Monday's opening round will be regular stroke play while the last two rounds will be match play. Match assignments will be given following the first round.
THE COURSE
East Lake Golf Club is the home course of legendary golfer Bobby Jones and is the oldest course in the city of Atlanta. The Par-72 course features four par-5 holes including the longest on 18.
STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
In ASU's four fall tournaments, this is the first time the Sun Devils have used the same lineup.

BIRD(IE) WATCH
The Sun Devils have been birdie machines this fall. They were second at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate and the Ben Hogan Colonial in team birdies by one each, and tied with 46 birdies for the tournament lead at the Fighting Illini Invitational.
COMING BACK FOR SECONDS
In each of its first three tournaments this season, the Sun Devils best card has come in the second round.
ASU carded its lowest tournament round in program history at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in the second round. The Sun Devils carded a 257 (65-64-64-63=257/-23). The 23-under score was tied for the best team mark in the tournament and also ASU's best score against par in a single round. Gabe Salvanera's 63 remains tied for the lowest round score of the year.
At the Fighting Illini Invite, Johnston fired the second-best round in the tournament's 16-year history. He carded four birdies in his last six holes to finish 6-under 64. Only two men, both current professionals, had shot better. Rickie Fowler (Oklahoma State, 2007) and Thomas Detry (Illinois, 2015) carded 7-under 63's respectively.
Johnston's effort was a part of ASU's 273 (64-68-70-71), just three strokes off Stanford's tournament record-low 270 (64-68-70-71=270/-10) from yesterday. The total was the best of any squad in the 15-team field by eight strokes on the day.
ASU played the first two rounds of the Ben Hogan Colonial on one day, but had a massive improvement into the second round. Preston Summerhays carded ASU's second 63, again in the second round, assisting ASU's 272 (63-68-70-71=272/-8) team card.
COACH THURMOND ON CONSISTENCY
"The format this week is different. Each round is a single competition. This team's personality is not one to come out throwing haymakers in round one. We like to throw a few jabs and get a feel for the ring and the fight, then adjust. We will need to come out a little quicker this week. We won't have time to ease into the competition any day. Let's make some birdies in those first holes!"
