PHOENIX – Sun Devil Baseball will launch its 2022 campaign with an action-packed weekend in Phoenix as the team celebrates its fans and its past in hosting the Sun Devil Baseball Alumni Day & Fan Fest, presented by Someburros on Sunday, Jan. 30 at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
The free event is open to all Sun Devil fans who wish to attend, with gates opening at 9:30 a.m. AZT and festivities getting underway at 10 a.m.
Nearly 100 former Sun Devil players, coaches and staff are slated to make their return to the Valley of the Sun, with many excited to take part in the return of the Sun Devil Alumni Exhibition, a brief three-inning exhibition featuring many of the names Sun Devil Nation has come to know and love over the decades, a list that includes the likes of Dustin Pedroia, Andre Ethier, Ryan Burr, Deven Marrero, Paul Ray Powell, Pat Murphy, Tuffy Gosewisch and more.
A vast majority of the Letterwinners will be enjoying quite the weekend as many will participate in the 2nd Annual Project 34 Golf Classic at Papago Golf Course on Saturday, Jan. 29 beginning at 8:30 p.m. Project 34 was founded by Sun Devil Alumni Cory Hahn and Trevor Williams with an overarching goal to positively impact the lives of individuals living with a spinal cord injury. The sold-out event welcomes many from across the baseball world – a large contingent of which is former Sun Devils – to raise money and awareness for those suffering from spinal cord injuries.
Sunday's Alumni Exhibition will be followed by a town hall-style Q&A session with Sun Devil head coach Willie Bloomquist, hosted by the Voice of the Sun Devils, Tim Healey. Fans in attendance will be able to pick Bloomquist's brain on his return to the Sun Devils and the coming 2022 season.
Fans are then encouraged to stick around to get their first look at the 2022 roster as the Sun Devils will take part in an intrasquad exhibition immediately following the Q&A.
Members of the Sun Devil ticket office will be in attendance and host a Select-a-Seat outing for prospective ticket buyers. Additionally, the Sun Devil Team Shop will be open as well as limited concession offerings. Parking and admission to the event are free to the general public. An autograph card featuring the 2022 schedule will also be given away free to the first 500 fans in attendance.
Parking Advisory: Due to road closures around Phoenix Municipal Stadium during the event, fans are encouraged to enter the Main lot via 56th St. from Washington or Van Buren. See linked PDF above for details.
