Offense Struggles In Loss At ColoradoOffense Struggles In Loss At Colorado
BOULDER, Colo. – The offense struggled as Sun Devil Volleyball fell at Colorado in straight sets (25-18, 25-15, 25-17) on Sunday afternoon.

Notable Stats
  • Arizona State (7-7, 1-1 Pac-12) was stifled by the defense from Colorado (10-2, 2-0 Pac-12), who had 60 digs to ASU's 39.
  • The Sun Devils did win the battle at the net, out-blocking the Buffs eight to six. Juniors Marta Levinska and Claudia Stahlke both had five blocks in the match, which is a season high for Stahlke and matches a season best for Levinska. Another junior in Claire Jeter added three blocks of her own.
  • Seniors Iman Isanovic and Annika Larson-Nummer both led the team in kills and digs, respectively. Isanovic had eight kills while Larson-Nummer notched 10 digs, her third match in a row reaching double figures.
  • Setting the majority of the match was junior Ella Snyder, who had 15 assists. Senior Shannon Shields came in the third set and saw some action as well.

Set One: CU 25, ASU 18
The Sun Devils jumped out to a 6-4 lead in the first set but fell behind after a 5-0 scoring run by the Buffs. Although they kept it close in the first half of the set, ASU could never quite regain the lead after that, as Colorado was able to side out consistently. The team as a whole had nine kills in the first set.

Set Two: CU 25, ASU 15
Similarly to the first set, ASU got out to a small lead before allowing Colorado to go on a scoring run. A 5-0 by the Buffs allowed them to take an 8-4 lead. They would hold the lead remainder of the set. A late kill from Roberta Rabelo and a late block from Levinska and Jeter were not enough as Colorado would win 25-15.

Set Three: CU 25, ASU 17
Two-straight blocks by Stahlke and Levinska put ASU on the board to start the third set. After that, Colorado was able to maintain a small lead, a 5-1 run putting the home team up 9-4. A run of five for the Buffs created separation that the Sun Devils could not come back from, down 17-10. The Sun Devils were able to hold off one set point thanks to a joust win from Synder, but the Buffs still took the set 25-17.

Up Next
The final road trip of this five-week stretch is next weekend at Oregon and Oregon State. The Sun Devils will face the Ducks in Eugene on September 30 before playing the Beavers in Corvallis on October 2.
