FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Sun Devil Men's Dive, comprised of Zachory Lundgren and Thomas Wesche, wrapped up their seasons at this week's NCAA Zone E Diving Championships at the Wall Aquatic Center at Northern Arizona University.

Lundgren competed in both the 3-meter and platform events, while Wesche participated in just Monday's 3-meter. Neither participated in the final day of the three-day event, the 1-meter dive.

DAY ONE
The Sun Devils kicked off competition with the 3-meter, in which Wesche qualified for the afternoon finals session after a handful of solid dives in the morning preliminaries. He'd go on to finish 16th overall, scoring 590.75. Lundgren wasn't able to move beyond the preliminaries, totaling 241.95 points through six dives.

Head coach Marc Briggs: "This being Tom's first Zone meet I'm extremely happy with how he composed himself. Diving steady making 3-meter finals gives us a lot to build on for next season. Zach started 3-meter off solid but was a little off the rest of the day and at this level wasn't enough to place in the finals. With his best event tomorrow he is looking to compete strong and put himself in the platform finals."

DAY TWO
On Tuesday, Lundgren participated in the platform, an event he specializes in. He performed well enough in the morning preliminaries to appear in the evening finals, in which he placed 13th overall with 533.95 points.

Coach Briggs: "Zach fought his heart out and did all he could to battle on platform, but fell short of making Nationals this season. Next year we will be in full training and ready to really bring it."

Just more than two months ago, the Sun Devils had yet to have any divers on their roster. Briggs, in his first season as the program's head coach, recruited tirelessly all fall to bring in a pair of transfers at the midway point of the season. That he was able to get half-a-season with Lundgren and Wesche, who both transferred to ASU by early January, sets the young program up to have a full, fruitful 2022-23 season.
