STANFORD, Calif. – No. 10 Sun Devil Water Polo (10-8, 1-1) dropped their Sunday matinee to No. 1 Stanford (12-1, 1-0), 22-9 to close out the weekend on the road 1-1 in California. Senior attacker, Bori Kekesi joined current graduate center Amira Van Buren as a member of the century club with 100+ goals in the maroon and gold.

Baksa's three goals on the day keep her at fourth on the freshman goal-scoring leader board with 51 total goals on the season, behind Isabella Chippani's 52 in 2014. Her 51 goals currently lead the team. She also notched three assists on the day, good for her 10th game of 5+ points.

Stanford took an early 3-0 lead after winning the opening sprint, but senior attacker Borbala Kekesi's 100th career goal came midway through the first quarter to stop the Cardinal run. Stanford managed an 8-1 lead to close out the first frame.

In the second quarter, the Sun Devil offense turned up the heat and went 4-6 on man-up opportunities in the first half, but the early Stanford offensive surge was too much for ASU to overcome despite goals from Luca Petovary, Emma Fraser, and Vanda Baksa in the second quarter.

Baksa kept her hot streak alive with a hat trick against the Cardinal with her third goal in the third quarter to lead all Sun Devil Scorers. Stanford took their 20-8 lead into the final frame. Bianca Becerra scored the lone Sun Devil goal on the penalty shot in the fourth quarter to get ASU on the board in the final quarter.

The Sun Devils will return home next weekend, March 11-12 to host the second ASU Invitational with Harvard, Azusa Pacific, and Marist in town. All three games will be streamed via the ASU Live Stream.
