ATLANTA – On Day 1 of the NCAA Women's Swimming Championships, the Sun Devils placed 11th in the 800 free relay, as Erica Laning, Emma Nordin, Lindsay Looney and Erin Milligan teamed up to go 6:59.71.

It's a new personal-best for the foursome and just the third time in school history the Sun Devils have gone sub-7:00.00 in the event.

The first of four days at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia, featured just two events – the 200 medley relay and 800 free relay. The Sun Devils competed in just the latter event and collected 12 points.

The foursome of Laning, Nordin, Looney and Milligan broke their personal-best of 7:03.49 in the 800 free relay, which they set in late February with a third-place finish in the event at the Pac-12 Championships.

After officially kicking off their first NCAA Championships since 2019, the Sun Devils are still fixated on attaining their best finish in the Bob Bowman era while on the East Coast this week.
