#10 Missouri Tops ASU 19-14#10 Missouri Tops ASU 19-14
TEMPE, Ariz. - Sun Devil Wrestling earned its first home loss of the season Saturday night with a 19-14 defeat to No. 10 Missouri. The dual started in ASU's favor, with the Devils taking four of the first five bouts, but the Tigers used a tech fall and wins in the upper weights to rally back. Jacori Teemer earned his 16th consecutive victory in a sudden death shootout to remain undefeated, and Cohlton Schultz picked up his 15th-straight win. Brandon Courtney, Michael McGee, and Kyle Parco had ASU's other wins. The Maroon and Gold close out the regular season next weekend against Lehigh Feb. 12 at noon inside Desert Financial Arena. The Sun Devils will be celebrating senior day during the dual.

How it happened
125: Brandon Courtney (Arizona State) over Noah Surtin (Missouri) (Dec 10-5)
Courtney started out on the offensive front foot and got a takedown in thirty seconds and another with a minute left in the opening period. He got another two points with less than ten seconds left, getting back the two points his opponent got with a pair of escapes. The scoring came to a halt, but Courtney still got ahead on the scoresheet with a reversal with 1:30 left in second period, with his opponent picking up one point due to an escape. The only takedown in the third period came at :21 to make it 10-5. With five seconds left, Courtney earned a takedown to make it 12-5, but after further review it was repealed. Courtney recorded the first victory of the night to get the Sun Devils ahead.

133: Michael McGee (Arizona State) over Connor Brown (Missouri) (Dec 8-6)
McGee's opponent got on the board first with an escape, but at 2:48, McGee got a takedown. Another escape would make it a tied match at 1-1, but McGee used a pair takedowns to make it 6-2 after one. The second period tested McGee more than the first, but he was able to repel Missouri's offensive efforts. Both sides got two points out of a reversal each, but McGee led 8-4 going into the closing segment. McGee weathered the storm and only conceded a reversal to secure an 8-6 lead and a second victory for the Sun Devils on the night.

141: Ethan Turner (Missouri) over Mykey Ramos (Arizona State) (Dec 3-1)
In Ramos' match, Turner struck first with a takedown at 2:30. Ramos got an escape to cut the deficit in half but couldn't muster out any more points from there to eventually fall 3-1.

149: Kyle Parco (Arizona State) over Josh Edmond (Missouri) (Dec 3-2)
A scoreless first period indicated what kind of match Parco would be participating in. The close match broke open in the second period when Parco was able to win an escape after spinning and avoiding any potential danger. Parco kept his opponent scoreless in the first two periods. In the third, Parco immediately trapped Edmond, in which the opponent was able to escape to make it tied at one. Parco helped himself to a takedown with just over a minute left. Another escape for Missouri was not enough, as Parco remained in control and wrapped up the third with a win.

157: Jacori Teemer (Arizona State) over Jarrett Jacques (Missouri) (SV-1 3-1)
Mirroring the bout that took place just before, Teemer partook in a close match that began with a scoreless opening period. Three stalemates took place in the last minute and thirty seconds of the first period. The deadlock broke half way into the second with an escape for Jacques. With 16 seconds left, Teemer crept and reeled in Jacques, but the quick move was not enough to get him on the board and time in the second period ran out. To start the third, Teemer escaped to make it a 1-1 match, and that score held to force sudden death overtime. Teemer zeroed in and cemented a victory with a takedown 30 seconds in to claim victory..

165: Keegan O`Toole (Missouri) over Anthony Valencia (Arizona State) (Fall 5:52)
The third top-10 matchup this season for Valencia began with a takedown for the Sun Devil in the opening minute of the first. O'Toole escaped to make it 2-1, then received a takedown to close out the first. The second period consisted of a reversal, and an escape for the Tiger to make it 6-2. Valencia rolled out of a tough situation, and got back-to-back takedowns with time running out in the second to end the period 6-6. All was to be played for in the third, but O'Toole rolled Valencia to his back and picked up a pin to close out the bout.

174: Peyton Mocco (Missouri) over Zane Coleman (Arizona State) (TF 21-6 5:37)
Coleman lost in a 21-6 technical fall.

184: Jeremiah Kent (Missouri) over Josh Nummer (Arizona State) (Dec 6-2)
Nummer put up one of the most exciting matches of the night. He surrendered a takedown early into the first period and was hit with a stall warning but looked to kick it up a notch starting in the middle frame where he was shaking off Kent and flipping out of nearfall opportunities. Trailing 2-1 in the third, Nummer picked up Kent and forced him to the floor twice in a minute and a half, but his positioning was just off enough for neither blows to count as takedowns. The efforts worked to tire Kent out and the Tiger was hit with a pair of stall calls to tie things at 2-2. Kent went up on an escape and eventually pulled away with a final takedown and his riding time bonus.

197: Rocky Elam (Missouri) over Kordell Norfleet (Arizona State) (Dec 4-2)
Norfleet was the first to put points on the board at 197, opening with a takedown at 2:17 in the first period. Elam's escape moments later put the bout at 2-1 Norfleet but those would prove to be the only points for the Sun Devil. Norfleet looked to have a takedown at the edge of the mat midway through the second period, but it was denied and upheld after an ASU challenge. Elam added a final escape and a takedown to hand Norfleet his first loss in five outings.

285: Cohlton Schultz (Arizona State) over Zach Elam (Missouri) (Dec 8-1)
Schultz picked up an 8-1 win over Zach Elam but the Sun Devil had to fight for every point. Elam came out sluggish and was hit with back-to-back stall calls to put Schultz ahead 1-0. Schultz then used a bottom-start reversal-to-nearfall combo to go up 5-0 in the second period. Another stall call on Elam put Schultz ahead 6-0 in the third, and Schultz used a final takedown in the dying moments to close out his victory.

174 Extra: Sean Harman (Missouri) over Ryan Rochford (Arizona State) (MD 13-3)
Ryan Rochford participated in an extra 174 bout against Sean Harman. Rochford registered just three escapes to fall 13-3.
