BERKELEY, Calif. – Both Sun Devil Swim & Dive teams were edged by the No. 2/7 Cal Golden Bears on Saturday afternoon in Berkeley to wrap up the program's California road trip against a pair of tough conference opponents.
The No. 6 Men's squad lost to No. 2 Cal, 176-117; the women's team defeated, 162-93.
Freshman Léon Marchand racked up a couple of victories for a second consecutive day, winning the 200 breast (1:54.35) and 400 IM (3:43.10). Marchand, who already has the program record for the 400 IM, captured the third-best time in his win on Saturday. He's now won multiple events in each of the Sun Devils' four meets this season.
Carter Swift added a win in the men's 100 free, touching the wall at 43.32
Erica Laning delivered the lone win for the women's squad in the 1000 free at 9:57.63, the first time the Knoxville native has won that event in her Sun Devil career.
The Sun Devils are back at it in two weeks, when they'll head south to see in-state rival Arizona for the regular season finale.
