Sun Devil Women's Golf wrapped up another successful Fall campaign which has them set up for a postseason run in the Spring. Led by ANNIKA Award Candidate Calynne Rosholt and All-American candidate Alexandra Forsterling, Arizona State boasts an experienced, deep, and talented group primed for the big stage. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye and Associate Head Coach Michelle Estill know what it takes to get it done at the highest level, giving Sun Devil fans plenty to be excited about heading into the Spring. SUN DEVILS IN THE RANKINGS
Arizona State ended the Fall season ranked highly in each of the three major national polls, widely considered a contender for a spot in the National Championship field in May. Golfstat ranks ASU the highest, slotting them at No. 20 in their final Fall poll. The Muzuno WGCA Coaches Poll has the Maroon & Gold ranked No. 21, while Golfweek/Sagarin rankings tabs them as the No. 23 team in the nation.
The Sun Devils also have plenty of individual firepower, with a pair of Sun Devils quickly rising up the rankings thanks to spectacular performances in the Fall. Calynne Rosholt is the highest ranked member of the squad, as she is ranked No. 27 nationally by Golfstat and No. 29 by Golfweek/Sagarin. Alexandra Forsterling is not far behind, coming in at No. 30 nationally according to Golfweek/Sagarin and No. 32 in the Golfstat rankings. Arizona State is one of only seven programs with two individuals in the Top-30 in Golfweek's final Fall rankings.
PAC-12 PREVIEW
Arizona State saved their best for last, delivering the third-lowest round of the day (295) and improving their score by 19 strokes from the previous round. The toughness and character of the Maroon & Gold was on full display as they ended the Fall portion of their schedule on a high note.
Strong performances by Alexandra Forsterling and Calynne Rosholt were a big reason why the Sun Devils made a big turnaround. Forsterling was the highest finisher on the team, ending in a tie for 13th after firing an even 73 today. Forsterling collected a team-high 11 birdies over the three rounds. She has now finished in the Top-15 at all three of her Fall tournaments, proving to be a consistent prescense in the lineup. Forsterling has 14 Top-20 finishes in her decorated career.
Calynne Rosholt continued the excellent start to her career, as she put together another fantastic effort in her first Fall campaign. Rosholt moved up 11 spots to finish in a tie for 19th after shooting an even 73 in the last round, shaving five strokes off of her round from yesterday. She now has three consecutive Top-20 results to start her career, proving to be one of the top freshman in the nation.
STANFORD INTERCOLLEGIATE
Arizona State (+6/858) finished tied for sixth place in a loaded field that included eight teams ranked in the Golfstat Top-25. ASU finished tied with No. 7 Texas, as seven teams finished with an 858 or lower. The other 11 teams finished with an 866 (+14) or higher, an indication of the difficulty of the course. The host team and No. 1-ranked Stanford took home the championship. After an opening round 282, the Sun Devils finished with two consecutive 288's to cap the tournament.
The Sun Devils were led by freshman Calynne Rosholt, who earned her first-career Top-5 finish in only her second tournament at the collegiate level. Rosholt played with maturity and poise all weekend, finishing with a 209 (-4) to end tied for fifth at one of the best field of the Fall season. She shook off a rough start on the last day and was locked in over her final 15 holes, finishing two-under and avoiding any bogeys. Her 38 pars were tied for the fourth-most of anyone in the field, as she played nearly mistake-free golf in only her third event at this level.
Joining Rosholt in delivering an excellent performance was Alexandra Forsterling, who made it two Sun Devils in the Top-10 at the Stanford Intercollegiate. Forsterling (-2/211) ended in a tie for 10th after a consistent weekend that was capped with two consecutive rounds under par. It is her seventh-career Top-10 finish and 14th-career Top-20 result.
NICKLAUS CUP
Arizona State participated in the first Barbara Nicklaus Cup, competing in a unique match-play event with both the men's and women's program teamming up together.
Getting wins against Florida State were Alexandra Forsterling (1UP), Johnston/Linner (1 UP) , Ashley Menne (3&2) and Anderson/Rosholt (1UP) Tuesday morning. Leading the way for the women's golf team was freshman Calynne Rosholt who was a perfect 3-0 in her matches, followed by Breyana Matthews and Forsterling going 2-1 in their matches.
ANNIKA INTERCOLLEGIATE
Arizona State (+5/869) matched Texas with the lowest round on the final day, posting a 282 (-6) to move up two spots on the team leaderboard. The 282 was also tied for the second-lowest round of any team across all three days, as the adjustments put in place by Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye and Associate Head Coach Michelle Estill yielded big results.
Alexandra Forsterling was the third Sun Devil to card 70 (-2), her second of the tournament. She finished three-under on the front nine thanks in large part to an eagle on a par-five 18th hole, the first by a Sun Devil this season. Forsterling moved up five spots into a tie for 15th, her 11th Top-20 finish of her career and second at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate. Joining Forsterling in ascending the leaderboard was Alessandra Fanali, who's 72 (E) was her best round of the season. Thanks to the clutch ending, Arizona State finished eighth out of 12 in the team standings, ahead of No. 4 LSU, defending National Champion No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 16 UCLA, and host Minnesota.
SIGNING DAY
Arizona State's 2022 signing class of Grace Summerhays, Paula Schulz-Hanssen, Beth Coulter, and Patience Rhodes has been ranked No. 1 in the nation by Golf Channel. Each of the four members of the class bring elite resumes with them to Tempe, having already enjoyed plenty of junior and international success.
"It is exciting for us to sign the nation's No. 1 class," Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye remarked. "We couldn't have done it without the tireless work of Coach (Michelle) Estill and the support entire Sun Devil Athletics' community. Our staff is committed to maintaining the excellence of the Sun Devil Women's Golf program and this class will help us accomplish our goal."
"We're really excited we got that extra year back so we get to do the three-year run. I think that the Grayhawk Golf Club and our event management staff in Sun Devil Athletics does a fantastic job. I've heard a lot of really good feedback from a lot of coaches and that it felt like a championship and that was the goal all along."
"We're really excited to have it two more years and Grayhawk is our second home and they're really good to us, almost as good to us as they are at Papago so we're very fortunate to have what we have here. The support of the entire golf community is phenomenal and we're real excited."

The event lasted two days and featured for the first time both Sun Devil men's and women's golf teams competing together against Ohio State, Auburn and Florida State. The Sun Devils finished strong, grabbing four points against Florida State on the final morning after finishing the previous afternoon winning four points against Auburn.
Arizona State finished in second place with 12.5 points which included winning 10 matches and drawing in five of them over the course of two days. Calynne Rosholt put the finishing touches on an outstanding debut, as the freshman proved she belonged among the top female collegiate golfers in the country. She finished with a 215 (-1), which was good enough to earn a tie for 13th place. Rosholt was the fourth-highest finishing freshman in the field, giving Sun Devil fans a glimpse of her bright future.
The other four Sun Devils had huge contributions in the team's move up the leaderboard, each carding their best round of the tournament. Ashley Menne moved up the most after a 70 (-2), climbing 13 spots. She found a groove after the first three holes, going three-under over the final 15. Matching Menne in recording a 70 (-2) was Amanda Linner, who made a similar jump in the standings. Linner started her round brilliantly, remaining four-under through the first 15 holes. ROAD TO GRAYHAWK
In the second of a three-year run as host, Grayhawk Golf Club will welcome the top men's and women's collegiate teams to decide a national champion. The event will be contested on Grayhawk Golf Club's Raptor course, a par-72, 6,337-yard and broadcasted live on Golf Channel. Sun Devil fans showed their support last year and will have another chance to do so this year should Coach Farr-Kaye's squad qualify for the NCAA Championship. A veteran of NCAA Championship events, Farr-Kaye recognized that Grayhawk and Arizona State exceeded the standard set by previous hosts."We're really excited we got that extra year back so we get to do the three-year run.
