BRIDGEPORT, Pa- On Thursday Morning, the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced the selection of the 2021 Women's Division I All-America Team, where Sun Devil Water Polo had four student-athletes honored.

Arizona State matched the previous program-best with four student-athletes selected for All-America honors after doing so in 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2018. ASU also had the fourth-most student-athletes honored among the institutions represented in the coach's selected group of 62.

Bente Rogge capped off her record breaking season with All-America First Team Honors, followed by Amira Van Buren who was named to the All-America Second Team. Chelsea Karimazondo and Luca Petovary were named All-America Honorable Mentions after both left their names in the program's record books.

Bente Rogge swept the season honors with her fourth First Team honor of the season, and second ACWPC All-America honor of her career after being named to the Second team in 2018. She finished the season with 40 goals and 28 assists for 68 points, and is in the top six in career goals scored (151) and career points recorded (151-54) in program history. Rogge led the team with 40 steals, putting her at third best in the NCAA, and 26 field blocks which led the NCAA. This honor comes after Rogge was named to the All-MPSF First-Team as well as the MPSF All-Tournament Team after the Championship Tournament, and the NCAA's All-Tournament First Team. Rogge also was named to the MPSF All-Academic Team.

Amira Van Buren picked up her second ACWPC Second Team All-America honors this season after hitting an impressive career milestone of 100 goals. In 2021, she recorded 33 goals on 69 shots, good for a 47.8% shooting percentage, the highest on the team (five shot minimum). She drew 29 exclusions at center for the Sun Devils which was 12 more than the next highest player. Defensively, she also recorded nine steals and four field blocks for one of the best defensive teams in the country. Van Buren adds this honor to her resume after being named an All-MPSF Honorable Mention earlier this season as well as being named to the MPSF All-Academic Team.

Chelsea Karimazondo finished her first real season at goalie for the Sun Devils, and earned her first career ACWPC All-America Honorable Mention. Karimazondo started 18 games for the Sun Devils, and held USC to their second lowest scoring game of the regular season, as well as their lowest scoring game in the NCAA Tournament. She recorded 165 saves, which was the fourth best in the NCAA, and second most in the conference behind IU's Mary Askew. Karimazondo recorded a career-high 19 saves against California in the MPSF Tournament to send ASU to round two, and her 19 saves is tied for fourth most goalie saves in a single game by a Sun Devil, a record last tied in 2015. She is now sixth all-time in program history in save percentage with 54%. This is her second honor of the season after being named to the MPSF All-Academic team.

Luca Petovary capped off an impressive freshman campaign with ACWPC All-America Honorable Mention honors after being named to the MPSF All-Newcomer Team as well as an All-MPSF Honorable Mention. Petovary led the team in goals this season with 45, which are sixth best in program history for season goals scored as a freshman, and her 57 points (45-12) are sixth on the single season points as a freshman. Petovary scored a goal in all but two games this season (24 of 26), and defensively worked both sides of the ball, with 14 steals and 14 field blocks. Her 14 field blocks were tied for seventh best in the NCAA. She also Had a career high five goals in both games against No. 17 San Diego State, and had 12 multi-goal performances this season.
